SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County sheriff's detectives are asking the public to help identify a woman whose body was found Friday in the Spokane River.

She does not match missing person reports.

KXLY reports (http://bit.ly/1dMJMOD) the autopsy showed she had been in the water at least two weeks. She was fully clothed with no signs of trauma.

She's described as white or Native American, in her 40s with dark shoulder-length hair. She had no tattoos or scars and wasn't wearing jewelry. She wore a green sweater over black stretch pants.

Heard back from Elizabeth Nelson late last night after she checked the dental records. Back to the drawing board.

It was confirmed the Unidentified Woman is not Ms. Waddington vis dental records. Thank you for your help. Elizabeth

Agreed. Looks like Spokane Jane has some other rule outs in Namus now, too.

What does everyone think in terms of a scenario? Was she homeless? What was the weather like around the time she went into the water? (She's not wearing layers or a coat.) Did she jump in? Fall?

My two cents: If she was in the water two weeks and was found January 10, that puts her in right around Christmas. Suicide?

I've made a little map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=z3YneYVei45w.ki0SdhhQmQ_A

The items marked are Argonne Road in Spokane on one end of the river, and Post Falls,ID on the other end. These are, according to the article, the "ends" at which she could have entered the river. I've also marked the approximate area where the body was located in a different colour.

Also a thought, the I-90 runs through Post Falls and very close to the Spokane River, could explain why no one recognised her if she's not local and was hitching from somewhere else.

This is great! Here is some info on the weather around the time when she might have gone into the water (late December). It was fairly cold and a bit snowy. IMO, even a homeless person would be be wearing a coat and heavier layers in that weather. I wonder if she took her coat off and jumped in? Of course, she could have been wearing a coat and it came off in the river.

Based solely on her clothing description she sounds like she was either homeless or depressed. Based on the fact she had no jewelry, she sounds homeless. Wish we had info about footwear. Five, can we compile a list of questions you can send to Ms. Nelson for us?

Yes. I was going to ask about the condition of her teeth, but I see that the article linked up thread mentions that she had received good dental care over the years.

Fire away!

Here are street views of the "ends":

Post Falls, ID: https://www.google.com/maps/@47.705...ata=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1s926nixGdHVQQ-mvryyWCDQ!2e0

These are estimates based on the where the address intersects with the Spokane River. Neither looks particularly built-up, but I lean toward the first one (in Spokane) as the place where she went into the water.

Also, no shoes: Could be because they fell off if she jumped into the water. Although the lack of trauma from the fall is a little odd.

This webpage deals with boat launches, but I think it gives a good view of various spots along the Spokane River:
