Did Zimmerman Copy a Stock Photo for His ‘Original’ $100k Painting?
Mediaite
by Matt Wilstein | 12:15 pm, December 17th, 2013

"As of 12 noon on Tuesday, December 17th, George Zimmerman’s first “original” painting is fetching $99,960 on eBay. But how original is it? As Twitter user @raven_rainfall pointed out to Mediaite after we posted the image of Zimmerman’s “America”-themed artwork, the American flag image he used comes straight from stock photo company Shutterstock:"

*

"Seeing as Shutterstock’s images are copyrighted and are not free to use, things could potentially become legally complicated if Zimmerman did, indeed, crib the image from the stock photo company. Plus, if someone is going to drop $100,000 on Zimmerman’s first-ever painting, they’d probably want to know from where the image originated?"

Top 10 Latinos We’re Ashamed Of From Jodi Arias To George Zimmerman This Year In 2013

George Zimmerman was accused of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and charged with second degree murder. Martin was a teen from Florida walking home from the deli after grabbing some candy and a drink. Zimmerman a former neighborhood watch captain saw Martin and believed he fit the description of individuals responsible for break-ins in his neighborhood. Zimmerman followed Martin and depending on who you believe, Zimmerman shot Martin in cold blood after racially profiling him or Martin attacked Zimmerman forcing the accused to act in self-defense. Zimmerman's former attorney unfazed by bar inquiry

http://m.apnews.com/ap/db_268748/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=rJYJGEVp

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The attorney who helped get George Zimmerman acquitted of murder charges said Tuesday that he expects an ethics inquiry opened by the Florida Bar will find nothing wrong in how he handled a defense fund and social media during the case......

Zimmerman's case was initially taken on by O'Mara pro bono, but he made the decision early on to begin soliciting funds on Zimmerman's behalf from the public to assist in the defense. The site raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, but none of it went to pay Zimmerman's attorneys.

O'Mara, who no longer represents Zimmerman in criminal matters, has since billed Zimmerman for $2.5 million for the hours he and co-counsel Don West spent on the case.

"George Zimmerman may be in legal trouble again, this time over his latest painting.

The painting, unveiled earlier this week, depicts Florida State Attorney Angela Corey, who charged Zimmerman with the second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin. It closely resembles an AP photo of Corey taken at a press conference in April 2012 — something the news organization is taking action against."

George Zimmerman: I want to quit fighting in court with Angela Corey
By Rene Stutzman, Orlando Sentinel
6:02 pm, March 4, 2014

"SANFORD — Former Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman says he's done fighting in court with Special Prosecutor Angela Corey."

Highlights:

~ Giving up on fight to make the State of Florida pay his legal bills.

~ Wants to end his lawyer's fight with Bernie de la Rionda, whom they had asked a judge to punish, alleging unethical behavior, including hiding evidence.

~ If Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson agrees, it would clear the way for Zimmerman to move forward with his defamation suit against NBCUniversal. A hearing in that case is scheduled Friday. The defamation suit had been placed on hold until his criminal case was concluded.

~ In an unusual move, Corey's office doesn't want the judge to grant Zimmerman's new request — that she forget about the sanctions.

~ In another legal development, a judge has set aside a default entered in favor of his wife, Shellie, in their ongoing divorce.

Zimmerman's parents sue Roseanne Barr over 'vigilante' Twitter comments
By Rene Stutzman, Orlando Sentinel
6:01 am, March 12, 2014

"According to the suit, Barr published their address on Twitter March 29, 2012, a month after their son George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager in Sanford, but before his arrest. ... ."

"It alleges that Barr's tweets forced them to go into hiding. They are seeking unspecified damages, accusing her of intentionally inflicting emotional distress."

"But that date – March 29, 2012 - does not jibe with what Robert Zimmerman Sr. told the Orlando Sentinel in a March 15, 2012, interview. On that day, he said that he and his wife had already moved out of their home and gone into hiding because of death threats."

Names of six jurors who acquitted George Zimmerman made public

"The names of the six-member jury panel that acquitted George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin have been made public for the first time, after a new court order, records show.

Circuit Judge Debra Nelson, who had previously ordered the jurors' identifying information be kept confidential, granted access to the names in a ruling March 21."

SANFORD – A judge on Thursday threw out part of George Zimmerman's libel suit against NBC Universal and held out the prospect that she may throw out the whole thing.

Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson tossed the allegations related to one of five broadcasts and said she needs to do more homework before deciding about the others.

And so it happened that a couple Wednesdays ago, right in the middle of the day, the Boston sculptor arrived with an assistant and proceeded, without permission from any official authorities, to attach a small, secret, cylindrical metal thing atop that lamppost. Matthew Hincman's "Still" stands across the street from the Civil War monument.

On its flat top is a low relief depicting a hoodie sweatshirt cast to the ground. Around the sides it bears Hincman’s name and the curious message “Still, 2014.” The guerrilla artwork is unobtrusive, camouflaged by how well it matches its environs.

For Hincman, it’s a street art monument to Trayvon Martin, the unarmed African-American teenager who was gunned down in 2012 while walking though a Florida neighborhood talking on his cellphone by—depending on your point of view—an overzealous or just plain racist neighborhood watch coordinator. By pairing Martin’s death with the Civil War monument, Hincman aimed to make “a contemporary marker to how far we’ve come in terms of race relations, in terms of power and equality since the end of slavery, since the end of the Civil War.”

A narrow stairwell in Florida Memorial University leads to rooms filled with collages and paintings from around the country.

While the artwork varies in style, there’s one common theme: almost all of the pieces depict a young man in a hooded sweatshirt.

This is the headquarters of the Trayvon Martin Foundation, established by Martin’s parents after the Miami Gardens teen was killed by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who used Florida’s controversial Stand Your Ground defense.
