Tsarnaev may get unmonitored visits with family
By Milton J. Valencia, John R. Ellement and Martin Finucane | GLOBE STAFF APRIL 16, 2014

"A federal judge said today that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may be able to get visits from his family in prison without being monitored by an FBI agent.

Defense attorneys had argued that they wanted the family to be able to speak freely during the visits so they could see the “story” of the Tsarnaev family.

US District Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. brushed aside prosecutors’ suggestion that the FBI agent’s presence was necessary for security.

“I don’t think the safety, security issue looms very large,” he said."

Time - You should be commended for wading through that very hard to read article to find that one gem! Very interesting.

Last evening while driving home from the memorial tribute, I reflected on the HUGE difference in the atmosphere of the day & the reality of the traffic!
:twocents: :twocents: The spirit of Boston is strong...very, very strong & uplifting, there is a determination that Patriot's day will be a day of cheering & joy, a day when folks who choose to WILL finish the 2013 Marathon and others, so MANY OTHERS, will run in honor & memory of those lost & injured.:blushing::blushing:

:tantrum: And the traffic :tantrum:...............was a typical Boston & the Pike overloaded "rush hours" unlike last year's road blocks with Military & LEO vehicles and very wary observations of the few travelers, even those with official placards & official light bars!
:loveyou::banghead: :loveyou: AND, thank God that traffic & congestion was back....it meant "all systems GO, back to NORMAL, our Massachusetts mania!:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

"The crime, indeed, was heinous, and the suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was not particularly sympathetic. It perhaps comes as no surprise that this past January, U.S. Attorney Eric Holder announced the federal government would seek the death penalty against Tsarnaev. But the death penalty, even in this horrible case, is unlikely to serve the interests of the people of Massachusetts and the taxpayers of America. Instead, it only likely extends the suffering of all involved, and hurts the credibility of the United States in the international human rights arena."

Gun used by suspected Boston Marathon bomber traced to Maine gang
By Richard Serrano
Los Angeles Times
May 12, 2014 | Reporting from Washington

"When police confronted Tamerlan Tsarnaev four nights after the Boston Marathon bombing last year, he leaped from his car with a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol and opened fire.

He critically wounded one officer and, despite being shot himself, kept firing until the gun emptied or jammed. In a final act of defiance, he threw the pistol at police before he was killed.

The tale of that handgun, a black Ruger P95, Serial Number 317-87693, offers new insights into the Boston tragedy and holds warnings of other potential dangers."

FBI: Cell ping of marathon suspect led to friends
Associated Press
By PAIGE SUTHERLAND

"BOSTON (AP) — Friends of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev became involved in the investigation into what happened after a signal from his cellphone while he was a fugitive was transmitted from their apartment, an FBI agent testified in federal court on Tuesday.

Special agent John Walker said that the FBI had strong evidence to believe that Tsarnaev was hiding out April 19, 2013, in his college friends' apartment in New Bedford, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) from Boston and not far from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth campus. Tsarnaev was registered to three other cellphones.

Walker also said that Tsarnaev had used one of the friends' Skype accounts to make several calls a few days after the April 15, 2013, attack, which killed three people and injured more than 260 others."

"The tale of that handgun, a black Ruger P95, Serial Number 317-87693, offers new insights into the Boston tragedy and holds warnings of other potential dangers.

Its journey from a street gang that peddled crack cocaine in Portland, Maine, to the grisly shootout in a Boston suburb tells much about illicit drug and gun trafficking in New England, and perhaps more about Tsarnaev.

Authorities believe Tsarnaev's ties to the illicit drug trade in Maine helped finance his six-month trip to the southern Russian republics of Chechnya and Dagestan in early 2012, where he became radicalized. Drug money, they say, also may have helped him buy components of the bomb that killed three people and injured more than 260 on April 15, 2013.

Portland is home to a trio of violent gangs called the True Somali Bloods, the Little Rascals Gang and a newly formed faction of the Crips Nation, according to the FBI."

Man charged with impeding Boston Marathon bombing probe

Associated Press

Boston — Federal prosecutors have charged a Massachusetts man with obstructing the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings.

Twenty-three-year-old Khairullozhon Matanov is charged with destroying, altering and falsifying records in a federal investigation, and with making false statements in a federal investigation. Matanov is a Kyrgyzstan national who lives in Quincy...

There is a Boston Globe article that I want to read but I used up all my freebies in the first three days of May. Maybe I will be able to read there again June 3rd? In the meantime, Daily Mail of course has the info, which they keep updating, and they have links to their sources, such as an article and video at Fox about Elizabeth Feitelberg in Quincy who last year reported hearing 3 bomb explosions in her neighborhood during the last few days of March and beginning of April, just days before the Marathon bombings.

The Fox article is at:

Another interesting article and video is at WCVB:

Sometime after the Marathon bombings, the residents in the same neighborhood reported or called in concerns about an airplane that kept circling their neighborhood. They were told at the time that the authorities know about the plane but could not reveal anything about it.

So, with the arrest of their 'neighbor' Khairullozhan Matanov, they learned that the plane was an FBI operation that was following the suspect Matanov.

Link to WCVB article and video about the plane:

Sources: Mystery Quincy plane followed Matanov
Published On: May 31 2014 02:09:48 PM EDT

"The mysterious plane that made overnight loops around Quincy and perplexed a slew of city residents last spring was being used to surveil Khairullozhon Matanov, the latest man charged in the Boston Marathon bombings investigation, sources with knowledge of the case said Friday."

So, maybe practice bombing? Then, why do they keep saying they don't think he was 'directly' involved. And, who has 900 videos on their computer :(

I'm a little confused, but maybe he just moved down the street?
He told me where he was from and I joked, ‘You don’t know those guys, do you?’ ” Bari said. “He said he was friends with (the Tsarnaevs). He said they were nice guys that came here to make a good life. ... He was always nice. Always nice to my daughter.”

Matanov moved into the basement apartment across from Bari after the blasts. And it quickly became clear to her and his other neighbors that their building was under police surveillance
http://bostonherald.com/news_opinio...ds_suspect_called_tsarnaev_brothers_good_guys
A neighbor, Leslie Aiello, 49, said she awoke around 5:30 a.m. to find Matanov’s brick apartment building on Common Street surrounded by agents

I looked up on Google maps where Feitelberg lives, where Matanov lives/lived and where the school is. It really does sound to me like someone was practicing exploding something. In the articles it said she heard 2 explosions but on her twitter she said she heard 3.

I hope Matanov enjoyed his stay in America. I am sure when they are done with him he will be deported instantly. I think they will find he knew more about their activities than it is being said so far.

In one of the articles regarding the 900 files it said:

"After the brothers were named as the suspects, Matanov is accused of making false statements to investigators, and deleting files from his computer of 'violent content or calls to violence'.

He also allegedly tried to get two people to take cell phones from him, so they wouldn't be found when the FBI searched his apartment.

"By deleting the files, the indictment says Matanov: 'Obstructed the FBI’s determination of his internet activity ... and the extent to which he shared the suspected bombers’ philosophical justification for violence, among other topics of interest'."

I imagine the 900 videos were all those videos on YouTube with Middle Eastern music and guys running around in camoflauge costumes with guns and rifles and talking about Allah. Not my taste in videos nor music.
