Who is this "Mort"..Guardian of Caylee's Crime Scene Pics??

According to this document from 2007.....Mort charges an average of $150 / hr for his investigative work???? How many billing hours has this case provided him????

http://www.iardc.org/04CH0147RB.html

Interesting, SOS! Well, Mort can "charge" whatevah fee he wants, but he ain't gonna get blood from Ms. Casey "Turnip" Anthony. She be broke!

I think more "invstigating" the investigator is in order. We all knew Mort conducted an interview with JK to "discuss RK"......now we find out that he is allegedly telling folks that handing over info will help???

Liz Brown.....paging Liz Brown......comments????

Coming into a person's home and taking evidence, by lying and saying it's for Caylee, can't be legal. Even LE can't do it without a search warrant.

I wonder if this was around the time Todd M. stated that they have evidence that proves Caylee wasn't in those woods for six months (or something to that effect).

Bumping this thread in light of recent discovery.

Also recall that LB was asked if anyone showed her pictures of Caylee.

This guy makes me nervous. He seems a little too close. I know he works with Andrea Lyon but I feel there is a missing piece to this puzzle. I also find it interesting that his old website used to have lots of articles on it about methods (some of which seemed shady to me but I am not a PI so I don't know what is considered unethical by PI standards) but those are no longer there. Hmmmmmmmmmm You can view his old cached site at this link

Hey SOTS, who knew you were prophetic, right? Oh how I wish we had a screen capture of those questionable methods that were there then went bye bye.

Was that question posed in Laura's deposition?

Interesting that Attorney Sims was asked about the "medical examiner" photos also ... asked two different times, in different ways.

State Attorney Investigation Subpoena

pg 9
CE Were there at anytime were any um, medical examiner photographs shown? Any, any photographs of any related homicide?

KS I don't recall that. If they were I didn't look at 'em

CE Did um, your recollection of... What I'm getting at Kelley is, did it appear that Mortimer may have been coaching, asking certain questions or discussing ah, what the photographs collected by the medical examiner may portray?

AB Don't answer that question under 934.03 please

pg 32 - SA Ah, did.. did you ah, at any point during this conversation in your office, did ah, did you hear anybody say they've seen autopsy photos and that child's body while contained in bag?

AB Think he already an.. he's already answered that, think you already asked that. So, he's not gonna answer that.

SA Okay. Um, do you recall at any point during that conversation your client Mr. Jordan making a statement and Mr. Smith interrupting him and putting words in his mouth?

pg 41 - Q Have you seen pictures of Caylee Anthony's remains?
A No, ma'am. Can you reask that question?
Q Just repeat it?
A Yes, ma'am.
Q Have you seen pictures of Caylee Anthony's remains?
A No. No.
Q Have you seen pictures of the scene where her remains were recovered?
A Yes.

These questions about anyone seeing autopsy photos, are very interesting in light of the fact that law enforcement, who is asking the questions in the Atty Sims interview, HAVE listened to Joe J's illegally recorded tape of Joe's interview with Mort Smith in Atty Sim's office.

Was Joe J ever asked, in any of his LE interviews, if Joe was shown autopsy photos?

Forgive me if this has already been posted:

Mr. Smith is a practicing Licensed Private Investigator who specializes in criminal defense and civil rights cases. He is a consultant to attorneys and criminal defense investigators on matters concerning criminal cases. He is the primary instructor for the Criminal Defense Investigator Certification Program at DePaul University. He has lectured to different audiences on various subjects on criminal defense investigations. Mr. Smith is the former Chief Investigator of the Cook County Public Defenders Murder Task Force and the Former Chief Investigator for the Illinois Capital Resource Center (now the Capital Litigation Division) of the Illinois Office of the State Appellate Defender.

Didn't Andrea bring him on line?

Is this the same Mort who did the skype'ing from the scene at JBP? If so, this man owns a car dealership and has an old television van with a boom for signal he can raise and lower. The Mort I am thinking of was an intregal part of being on scene from the get go and his broadcasts helped get food to the searchers, as well as brought us up to date info as it was transpiring (like finding toys and a "bone" at JBP). Maybe both sides felt he was a stand up guy, seems a little weird to allow someone who is not a paid member of the court or the team have this much control over such sensitive stuff.

Omgosh - I remember that guy - but his name is Murt. I followed him for a bit, but he had absolutely no rules on his site and it got ugly real quick.

William Murtaugh, known as "Murt" on the Internet, said he is not alone in his thirst for coverage about Caylee.

"There are people out there who are literally addicted to Caylee," Murtaugh said. "The commercial media cannot provide everything we want. We want more. We're addicted to it," Murtaugh said.

Murt's Web site -- murtwitnessone.com serves as a home for armchair cybersleuths, and he said the TV truck he purchased has made a big difference.

I remember he used to hang out with TES.

So we have Murt not to be confused with Mort ;)

MOO
