In the two years since a young mother was beaten and strangled in this Macoupin County village, her killer has successfully eluded authorities.

But investigators have a growing list of people who did not kill Angela Lee.

That list has been compiled with the help of DNA evidence, found at the scene, that has been compared with voluntary DNA submissions from "people of interest," said Mike Sheeley, a master sergeant with the Illinois State Police.

The cause of death was manual strangulation and blunt trauma to the head, said Macoupin County Coroner Charles Landers.

Gary Wheeler, who was sheriff when the murder took place, said at the time that there were no signs of sexual assault and that nothing was missing from the house.

Deyton, who was uninjured, saw his mother killed.

"He has been able to provide some information, but he's a child," Sheeley said.

The fathers of murder victim Angela Kristin Lee and her admitted killer, Anthony Ashby, were kept apart by Macoupin County sheriff's deputies, and the situation was defused without any arrests.

The murderer Anthony Ashby's Father made a wisecrack to Angela Lee's Father. Ashby was sentenced to 33 years.
