Family members found her 1994 burgundy Nissan Sentra in front of the Food Lion store in the Village Marketplace, just north of McDonald's. Police examined the car, which was locked when they found it, but found nothing suspicious. "

I don't know if these cases are related to RAT by anything other than proximity to Rt29.
However, it is really weird that there was this cluster of "suicide" by drowning. Drowning by suicide is really rare. There is a lot of discussion about that in their WS thread.

LE concluded from reading in her journal, and from conversations with friends about death, that she committed suicide. Her body was found, downstream from where she went missing in a place with a swiftly flowing upward current"

Car recovered January 25th, on a bridge over the James River. Single/divorced, no children. Bank teller. No substantial reason to suspect suicide other than the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Remains found in the James River in Charles City County. Jill Edmond's relatives posted that she was found "scalped, with no hair," and "her bra was pulled down below her belly button."

Salotto, associate professor of English and chair of the English department, has worked at Sweet Briar for 12 years, said Jonathan Green, dean of the college. The college is about 10 miles or so north of Lynchburg off Route 29. Her remains were found in the Joshua Falls area of the James River, about seven miles from downtown Lynchburg.

was found face down in the water in Arrington near Cedar Creek Road. &#8220;Shirley L. Clark 48 of Chesterfield was found face down in the water by her husband. Ms. Clark, a part time resident of Wintergreen, had gone canoeing or kayaking earlier in the day and when she didn&#8217;t return to designated pickup point her husband became suspicious. Ms. Clark was eventually located by her husband face down in the water

Here is another James River drowning case. If you read the comments after this story, a man says he's friends with the family and that the husband left for a bit and returned to find his wife dead. They ruled it an accidental drowning. It was about 6-7 southeast of Lovingston!

Thanks I edited to add her. It sure sounds like an accident, but who knows? It is all purely speculation at this point.

Definitely with you on Hattie Brown. Sheetz gas station, last seen in car? However, she went missing in Halifax County which seems like it is the middle of nowhere, but only a 45 minute ride from Lynchburg.

Her body was found in a tree, five feet above the water line...and they said no foul play. IDK how a person gets a body in a tree, but I don't get how someone dies in a tree.

That cluster has hunky written all over it. I don't know if they relate to any other cases, they are more centered around the James river going out to Richmond. But really suspicious.

I didn't add the males, but I think there were some male drownings at the same time.

This one has always bothered me. There was virtually no information released in local papers. If I remember correctly, LE stated that no suicide note was found. It plays suspicious and I really wish I could find more information on the case.

If the water level was up, she could have been lodged in a tree as she was floating in the river, then the water level lowers, and she stays in the tree. Very weird, though, for sure.
