Came across this case, possibly named "Sherryl Miller", according to the case file:

ETA: WARNING post mortem photos at attached link:

http://coroner.co.la.ca.us/htm/uipdetail.cfm?proc_flg=L&unid_case_num=1968-05805

She is also listed on the Doe Network as Hot Case 1155.

It just caught my attention because the body was found around my birth date. Also was struck by the photo of the young woman in the case file -- she just looks like she's sleeping. :(

(I'm not a frequent poster, but I thought I'd start a thread for her...)

so she possibly had the initials E.J. and someone with the initials C.B. gave her that ring? perhaps Sherryl Miller was a stage name?

fwiw: Robert Kennedy was assassinated June 5, 1968.

From reading the brief info. available,
she was staying at a motel, under the name Sheryl Miller.
She had a ring on.
She was wearing a bikini, white coat and black sandals.
She was found at 9:30am, June 6, 1968.

Questions:

What was her cause of death?
How long had she been dead?
Why was she wearing a bikini at 9:30am?
How did she get to Griffith Park?
How far is it to Griffith Park from her motel in Studio City?
Wondering if LE thought
she came to LA to be an actress?
Or if they thought she was a CA girl?
Did LE think she had fallen on hard times?

So many questions.

It sounds like she had been modeling because of the bikini and coat. There was a serial killer in LA in the 1960's who impersonated a modeling photographer--he would put ads in the Hollywood acting publications. I cannot remember his name, but I think he has ties to CO, and perhaps even the former Boulder Jane Doe. Let me see what I can find...

O/T: I wonder if they ever determined if she had a child. She makes me think of someone who could be Sharon Marshalls mother...

Edit: Nevermind, it was Harvey Glatman, and he was executed in 1959.

Height is off somewhat, but other things match:

If she dyed her hair, possibly?

What about Donnis Marie Redman?

1. Lynn B: Missing 1967, She does have the look of Sheryl.
We need side by sides. Or rotate side by sides to see Sheryl from that angle.
She does have 5 stars at NaMus. Dental and dna are available. \

2. Darlene P: Missing 1967, To me, she does not look as much like
Sheryl, as Lynn B does.

3. Donnis R: Missing 1967 ,
When I pulled up both computer pics, she looks a lot like Sheryl.
She is not on NaMus.
No notes if her dna or dental available.

I would think we need more info about Lynn B and Donnis R.
IMO:
But Lynn B does have dna and dental, hmm.,
probably too early to ask for a dna check.

Thanks, to everyone, for your input!!!

Here is a side-by-side of the Griffith Park unidentified female (who is 20+ yrs old in photo), and Donnis Marie Redman (who is about 15 yrs old in photo):

And here is the unidentified female and Lynn:

A concern I have for Donnis and Lynn is that they do not have brown eyes as listed on the UID info. JMO

My thoughts on the ring is perhaps it belonged to a family member such as grandparents. I did some searching for marriages with the date to see if I could find something that matched the initials but didnt come up with anything. My thought on that is that since it is from someone to someone, that it would be a wedding ring. If they were married in 1920 they you can figure that they would have to be around 20years old at the time leaving them born in around 1900....since she was found in 1968 seems like a plausible conclusion. Perhaps some better sleuthers can go with this angle...outside of googling I am not much of a sleuth!!haha

It's frustrating that there is no cause of death...

It sounds drug related, it could tell us more aout her lifestyle.

I wonder how long she had her head on the table?
Who noticed? Was it crowded?

I have so many questions and no clue how to get answers

This looks like a good match, but the one on the left looks slightly 'older' than the one on the right

It does sound drug related, and being in a bikini at that time in the morning is somewhat unsual ..

Yes, Donnis really seems to resemble her, but the more I look, the more I think the mouth & lips, and the chin are wrong. Also, there's no getting past the difference in eye color. So, I don't think Donnis, Lynn, or Darlene are matches.

I agree about the possibility of a drug-related crime/death for Sherryl.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/babcock_madeline.html (madeline Babcock disappeared in June 1968 in CA. She is a little older than the suspected age of Jane Doe but it is worth a look-see)

Her sister, Pat, has a pretty detailed website about her sister but it has not been updated since 2004. There are several pics of Madeline under the photos tab. I am pretty new at the UID process but trying to get more involved as I think it is important so any input would be appreciated!

Could be a possibility, though its quite hard to see from the photos

The fact Madeline was a hydrocephalic w/ a drinking problem fits w/ the suspected COD of the Jane Doe - possible drug overdose or in this case if Madeline was upset and decided to go on a binger she could have just overdone it. Madeline disappeared under very weird circumstances. WHen her mother and sister went to her apartment to look for her ALL of her stuff was gone and they never heard from her again. She was reportedly in an abusive relationship at the time. I wonder if Pat, her sister, is still alive. The fact she has not updated the site in 5 yrs makes me wonder but I suppose considering how cold this case is there probably is not a lot to update.

These are two children that went missing in the 1940's. The first one seems unlikely to me but I thought I'd post the link anyways.

The second one has me curious. It says that this girl and her mother both came up missing. The woman's husband was the prime suspect in the disappearance and his initials are E.C.B. Maybe his middle name is the name of his father? It's doubtful but maybe that's where the initials C.B. on the ring came from. I believe anything is possible. The girl was only 4 years old at the time she went missing so maybe they changed their names or the girl never knew her real name?
