By Olivia BowdenStaff Reporter

''The Toronto woman whose body was found by police in Leslieville Monday is being remembered as a generous and ambitious person — a manicurist who looked out for others and was working to make a better life for her son.

“She was a really nice person, nice with everyone around her, especially her son,” said friend Henry Thinh.''

''Homicide investigators have been seeking to speak with Dallas Ly since identifying his mother’s body and are “concerned” about him, particularly after seeing the state of their home, Const. Alex Li told reporters late Wednesday night, though he did not provide further details about what officers found inside''

''Toronto Police are urging anyone with information about Dallas Ly’s whereabouts to contact them immediately. Investigators want to communicate with anyone who drove by the area of Eastern and Birkshire avenues between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28 and who may have dashcam video.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Toronto police’s homicide squad at 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS) or 222tips.com.''

In this article they write a man named ‘Goldie’ of Genuine Import Auto Service Inc. was Tien’s boyfriend. <modsnip>

The article repeats the information that he met her son briefly twice over the years. Once for ‘six seconds’, once at her shop.

Quote from article:

“On the woman’s ninth-floor condo balcony the sliding doors were wide open and a large garbage bag could be seen flapping in the breeze.

Aerial views of the Dundas St. E. and Carlaw Ave. condo showed what looked to be three large industrial garbage bags and debris on the balcony.”

''Warning: some of the details in the story are disturbing.

'Investigators said Sunday they now allege Dallas was responsible for the death of his mother.

The lady’s name was Tien Ly.

Dallas Ly will be back in court today, probably via video link.

I’m wondering why it’s a charge of second degree murder given the dismemberment of her body.

Wonder if he will have the money to hire a lawyer or will he use a ‘public defender’ as they say on tv.

Crickets!

He will have been either sent to jail or to a psych facility for assessment. IMO

Doubt we’ll hear much til close to trial, in a couple of years.

Watch this space….:D

All that showed up for now... rbbm.

''Ly is represented by her attorney Jessyca Greenwood. However, no Crown prosecutor has been assigned to the case.

Justice of the Peace Kevin Hunter of the Ontario Court of Justice imposed a publication ban on the case, so nothing more can be said.

The ban covers Crown evidence, as well as the circumstances in which Ly was arrested and the identities of people he forbade contact.

Dallas Ly is scheduled to return to court on May 20 for the commencement of the transfer of evidence from the Crown to the defense.''

Thank you for that info. I'll move him to May 20th in my notes. :)

How did he get charged with 2nd degree murder when he allegedly murdered and dismembered his poor mother? I'd really like an explanation on that one...
