"The 1986 killing of Eveline Aguilar in Seminole County was closed with an arrest Wednesday night – just two months after Sheriff’s Office investigators solved another decades-old slaying, Sheriff Dennis Lemma announced.
Danny Lynn Emitt, 50, faces charges of first-degree premeditated homicide and burglary in the slaying of Aguilar unincorporated Winter Park apartment July 14, 1986. Aguilar had been stabbed to death and possibly sexually assaulted, investigators said.
“There is no perfect ending, but this is as good as we can get – holding the person that’s responsible accountable for their actions,” Lemma said at a news conference Thursday.
Emitt had not previously been considered a suspect in Aguilar’s death, Lemma said. He was tied to the killing after investigators submitted DNA from semen found at the scene into CODIS, a national database."
