BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - A missing man's truck was found by Hernando County deputies on December 13 near Weeki Wachee High School – four days after his family in Oregon reported him missing.

The family of 34-year-old Timothy Braddy said it's unlike him to be out of touch with them, especially because he has several children. Now, they're worried, fearing the worst, and hoping to get answers soon.

Braddy left Oregon in his truck on December 2 to head to Tampa. His fiancée, Erin McCarty, kept him company the whole way, by phone.

Hernando County authorities found Timothy James Braddy’s abandoned truck on Dec. 13 at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Centralia Road, but there was no sign of Braddy.

“Well, T.J., he was living in Oregon, he got a job opportunity in Tampa because he has children in this area and he wanted to be closer to them. He has a fiancé up there in Oregon,” said his mother.

After she spoke to him on Dec. 9, she said his fiancé spoke to him the next day.

“His fiancé was talking to him and it was like two in the morning and it seemed like he was having truck trouble and that was it, the phone, just no more communication after the 10th,” said Braddy.

This linked mentions an unconfirmed sighting on Dec. 13 in the area. It also sounds like there may be a backstory or history that his father (who lives in the Florida panhandle) references:

"I don't understand what happened, but TJ, if you can hear me, it's OK son, we just want you home, we can deal with it from there," said his father, [TB].

I wonder if the mother(s) of his other children knew he coming to town?

His father also mentions sleep deprivation as a possible issue given that he had driven 2-1/2 days from Oregon. I wonder where he was planning to stay.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - The search for a missing man from Oregon who was driving to the Tampa Bay area is nearly two weeks old, but there are new efforts being made to try and find him.

The family of 34-year-old Timothy Braddy said they last heard from him on December 10. Police in his home state believe he could be in danger, and search groups are now bombing the woods to see if they can find him.

The group of former military and police, "We are the Essentials," helped search for Brian Laundrie before he was found dead in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in North Port. The group said they're searching an area of woods near the border of Hernando and Citrus counties, where they believe deputies have also focused.

The search will go on, rain or shine, until they know.

Braddy's family said they are going to be in the area next week to continue to search for him.

It's been one month since Timothy Braddy's family reported him missing. The 34-year-old father was driving from Oregon to Tampa for a new construction job when his truck broke down in Hernando County.

When his family didn't hear from him after his phone died, they filed a missing person report in Oregon.

[...]

The best tip they have gotten so far is from someone who heard him on the phone with his fiancée the same night his truck broke down.

[...]

A private search team called "The Essentials" said they have combed over 100 linear miles of woods in western Hernando and Citrus counties. Three weeks after Braddy's disappearance, the team said they located items that they believe belonged to Timothy: a pack of cigarettes and a construction vest. They were located several miles from where his truck was eventually found.

Hernando County deputies have done several searches themselves, including with helicopters and K9 officers. They said Timothy made paranoid statements to family prior to disappearing, but don't know if that's a relevant clue.

[...]

Even if he was exhausted from driving straight through, he had the forethought to wear a bright orange vest since it was dark while he was on foot. Perhaps in his exhaustion he was disoriented and got lost in the underbrush.

If he went west, he ventured into Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. That is over 24,000 acres of rural land. The wildlife in rural areas can be a tad scary, particularly wild boar, as they are mean.

UPDATE # 1 – STILL MISSING – Missing Adult – Timothy Braddy – 2022-37168
Date: December 21, 2022
----

Through family, it was learned that last communication with Braddy was on his cell phone on 12-09-2022 into the early morning hours of 12-10-2022. It was also learned during this conversation, Braddy made several irrational/paranoid statements, and was running into the woods. It was soon learned that Braddy had possibly relapsed, and was becoming paranoid, therefore left his vehicle behind.

Through investigation, Detectives were led to the area of W. Ponce De Leon Boulevard (U.S. 98), where Braddy was physically sited by nearby residents in the early morning hours of 12-10-2022 at approximately 1 a.m. This led investigators eastbound on U.S. 98 (Citrus County).

-----

At this time, Braddy’s whereabouts remain unknown. Braddy was last sited in Citrus County on 12-10-2022.

Because HCSO’s case was for a call on an abandoned truck, not a missing person, deputies have since closed T.J.’s case.

8 On Your Side was told there was a possibility T.J. was seen in Citrus County.

We caught up with Citrus County Sheriff’s Office that said that’s not true, but T.J.’s phone did ping near the Citrus County line near U.S. 19.

Ugh!

Noting:

So, who’s looking for T.J.?

The missing person case is actually being conducted by Grants Pass Police Department all the way back in Oregon, where he was originally reported missing on Dec. 9.

NBC News - 10 YEARS OF MISSING IN AMERICA
[...]

34-year-old Timothy Braddy was last seen on December 10, 2022, in Citrus County, Florida. Timothy is originally from Florida but had been living in Oregon for three years. Timothy’s mother, Kimberly, told Dateline that her son had driven from Oregon to Florida earlier in the month for a job opportunity. That's why, on December 9, 2022, Timothy was headed down to Tampa for the onboarding for his new job.

Kimberly said she was texting Timothy that day and he seemed like he may have been lost. That was the last time Kimberly heard from her son. According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the next day, Timothy was spotted by two residents walking on U.S. 98 in Citrus County -- it was the last time he was seen. A few days later, on December 14, his red Dodge pickup truck was found in Hernando County – about 14 minutes away from where he was last seen. Multiple searches have been done for Timothy both by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and by a nonprofit organization called ‘We Are The Essentials.’ They have utilized drones, cadaver dogs, and more in their search for Timothy, but no trace of him has been found. Timothy is 6’1” and 175 lbs., with auburn hair, a thin build, and multiple tattoos. Anyone with information about Timothy’s disappearance is asked to call the Grants Pass Police Department at (541) 450-6260.
