I have sent the program newly scanned photos of Anna, the "Plan", and the two pages from the Squibb notebook which mention the Italian consulate. Now I'm hoping Raf will contact the reporter (I pmed her the phone number and e-mail address), since the connection with Italy is slender and I think they want a local contact to make the story more interesting to Italian viewers.

One word. Awesome! This is such terrific news to hear on a rainy, dull day!

Just wondering, if the Italian news program decide that they will run a story on Anna, if they would also be willing to contact one of the news programs in the US to also do a story on Anna to run in conjunction with their's. A lot of news stations have an affiliation with other news stations in different countries.

Maybe Raf could ask the Italian news program about this if they decide to do a story on Anna.

Just a thought.

Others looked into these issues and they can give a more authoritative answer. I think Annasmom knows about the passport and Sherlockjr found the apparent charge on the TWA credit card. I believe that you are correct, but lets hear from them to make sure.

Raf, GW applied for US Passport #B1575279 on July 9, 1971, even though his passport #J571728, issued May 10, 1968, was still in force (he claimed on his application that this passport had been destroyed in a fire). Among his papers we found a small photograph of him holding Anna which had her full name and DOB written on the back, about the right size for a passport picture and possibly intended for one, though we have no confirmation of that fact. I have copies of all his passport applications, but the passports themselves were not found among his papers.

I found these records of GW's checks on Sherlock's older postings. Apparently he was making payments on the card instead of paying off the whole thing at once. However, these could also be payments on an insurance policy. Maybe Sherlock will remember.

That is what I recall seeing. He had zeroed out his balance a few months prior to January 1973, then statred making new payments in February which indicates a credit card puirchase in January.

From the time line.
Jan 1973 - TWA plane ticket appears to have been purchased, est ticket cost $500.
I think it has been said before, but I will say it again. $500 for airline tickets in 1973 seems to be a lot of money.

There are more TWA checks after November. I will update when I plow thru entering the register info. Doogie and I are somewhat concerned a ticket could have been purchased in the month of January 1973 and charged on his credit card.

I just had a telephone call from Rome and they are considering using Anna's story on the Italian television show we submitted the e-mail to! They would like to communicate directly with Raf, so I'll send the reporter's e-mail address to her. They also want a picture of the Squibb reference to the Italian consulate. They had already looked up the name of whoever was consul at that time, but said he had died so that they couldn't question him.

Wow! A girl has to travel for a couple of days and look how much happens! I am so happy to hear about this! Raf - If you need any help at all, let me know...

Maybe I presumed he wrote, and it was only written in the squib, my apologies.

I'm ecstatic over the prospect of Anna's story being aired in Italy. I also seeing if a US 'counterpart' or 'sister station' could also air some of the story. :dance:

OzzieMum, I read your post, but didn't answer because we don't really know whether the Italian station is going to run the story. If they do, it would not be a news story but rather a "feature", and I've never heard of other stations picking up a feature from another TV station unless it had some new or startling material which they could run as news. The Italian reporters have been doing their own research, so maybe actually they will have some new and startling feature. What we could do, however, is to publicize the fact that the story has run in Europe, but again, only if we get a positive answer from them. Fingers crossed, but we do not know for sure.
