Details of Disappearance

Glenna was last seen in Paw Paw, Michigan. At the time of her disappearance, she and her husband Robert "Bob" West were separated and in the process of a divorce, but still living in the same home. Robert reported her missing on December 12, 1977, saying he hadn't seen her in approximately one month and that her car was also missing.

Glenna had no prior history of leaving without warning, and was devoted to her four children. It's unclear why Robert waited so long to report her disappearance. After she went missing, the couple's divorce was granted and Robert moved with the children to Arizona, and his and Glenna's former home on Blue Star Highway burned down.

According to Glenna's family, there was a history of domestic violence in her marriage. The police contacted Robert in Arizona and asked him to take a polygraph and he agreed, but never showed up for the appointment. Her family believes he was involved in her case, but little evidence is available. Glenna's disappearance remains unsolved.

FOIA request has been sent in. Michigan has a mandatory response time of 5 business days, but there's no specific time in which they must fulfill the request. Seeing as the age of this case, I don't expect much push back in regard to the record.

Did you ever receive a response, and if so, did you get reports that were older than 2020? I noticed they changed the case number and updated it, and when I tried requesting the old one, I didn't receive anything. I've all current reports starting from 2020, but nothing earlier.

Of the 9 Sisters, including Glenna, only 3 are still alive.

What a tragedy that 3 of the sisters never got closure as to what happened to Glenna.

Here are images of a Petition For Custody filed by Glenna West on August 10th of 1976. Via the documents Robert West, allegedly, through threats of violence, left Michigan in 1976 with the 2 eldest West children. While in Arizona Robert allegedly filed for a divorce, but as of yet, I've not looked into obtaining those records. I can do so if I have time this week.

Please note that these photographs are copies I obtained at the County Clerk in Berrien County. Names of the children were not redacted, however I will redact those before posting, as there is no need for them to be provided.

A few corrections to make. Glenna was last seen on November 24th of 1977 where she was attending a Thanksgiving dinner with family in St. Joseph Michigan at her sister's house. She was last seen wearing a red, white, and blue flowered blouse, long dark skirt, white car coat or maroon long coat and light tan snow boots. She was last seen around 11:30pm. She was reported missing on December 5th. It doesn't seem that Robert was the one who reported her missing, as he's never referred to as the complainant.

Honestly, I'm just left with more questions now. She wasn't collecting her unemployment checks for about 3 weeks before she was last seen. Doesn't seem to make much sense when on the 24th she was trying to take the kids and leave Robert.

So, I'm unsure why the report states that 101 Church Street is the address for one of her sisters, because it isn't. 101 Church street is the parking lot for the old courthouse in St. Joseph.

I'm not sure the rules about this, so if an admin or mod sees this, please message me and let me know how I should proceed with this. 101 Church Street was just a parking lot at the time, so the mention of this as the address for Glenna's sister's house, is incorrect. However, there are 2 sisters who did live in two different houses within a few blocks of that address. I don't know, and couldn't find, rules for this situation, so I'll wait until I know for sure before posting any of that information.
