NY NY - Barbara Bruno, 18, Rochester, 1 Aug 1980

That is not burial site but rather very likely site of her headstone (sometimes on empty grave prepared for them). Many families of long term missing people have headstones made for their loved ones. Not odd at all.

If that were the case why wouldn’t they use her August 1, 1980 date??? Turns out this was a Barbara Bruno born in 1951 and not her.

I recently saw a post on Barbara Bruno. She reminded of the Mt Vernon, NY Jane Doe https://www.namus.gov/UnidentifiedPersons/Case#/10229?nav. Mt Vernon JD was found several years after Barbara Bruno was last seen but the hair, eye color, height all match. If Barbara did head off to NYC which is about a 5 hour drive from Rochester this could be a possibility. Mt. Vernon NY is only about 20-30 North of NYC. The only problem is that there is such little information on Barbara Bruno.

I just ran across this case and the Double Initial (also known as the double alphabet murders) in Rochester, NY came to mind right away. I know that happened in the early 1970’s but 1980 isn’t that long after, especially if the killer was incarcerated for other crimes during the period between 1973-1979-ish. Has this theory ever been explored in Barbara’s case? I know there are differences, such as the other girls were younger and their bodies were found, but what if the killer dumped Barbara’s body in a nearby town with the same first initial like he did with the other girls? If so, the obvious choice of town for Barbara would be Brighton, Ny. Could this Brighton, NY Jane Doe possibly be Barbara? The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) The Jane Doe’s estimated PMI is min 7 yes but could be 20-25 years, so she died anytime between 1973-1994.

She looks like a Jane Doe that was murdered by Doug Clark and Carol Bundy in California, not long after Barbara went missing. She was picked up in Hollywood apparently. Anyone know Barbara's destination in California?

While I believe the Alphabet Killings being name-based is a coincidence, I would suggest Barbara as a match nevertheless.
