Police: Jamestown man missing under suspicious circumstances

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) - Police are searching for a Jamestown man, who is missing under what they are referring to as suspicious circumstances.

They said Sean Carpenter, 35, was last seen walking down East Pine Street towards 1st Street at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday. He was reportedly heading home, but never made it.

Carpenter was last seen wearing a brown baseball hat, long sleeve green jacket and gray and red sneakers.

[FONT=&quot]On Thursday, a man claiming to be a friend of Carpenter’s told WNYNewsNow that he was drinking with Carpenter the night he disappeared. He told us that they started in Falconer and took a cab to the Wine Cellar in Jamestown, where he said they went separate ways after being there for less than two hours.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]WNYNewsNow received a message from a woman claiming that she gave Carpenter a ride from the Wine Cellar to MOJO’s, but we have been unable to confirm the authenticity of that message.[/FONT]

Helicopter Used In Search Of Missing Jamestown Man

The search for a missing Jamestown man continued Friday as Jamestown police, with assistance from the State Police Aviation Unit, searched various sections of the city with a helicopter.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said a state police helicopter was used Friday morning to “search the areas that were not real accessible by foot” in the ongoing search for Carpenter, a native of Warren, Pa.

A ground search of the missing Jamestown man was expected Friday as well, Samuelson said.

The Chadakoin River was lowered last Friday as part of the search operation.

Amy McCellan, a friend of Carpenter, has started a Facebook page “Sean Carpenter Missing Person Jamestown New York.”

“We don’t really understand fully the whole scope of his disappearance,” Mcclellan told the Times Observer newspaper in Warren. “Right now we’re just doing everything we can to get him home.”

Anyone with information regarding Carpenter’s disappearance is asked to contact Jamestown police at 483-TIPS.

The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body pulled from the Chadakoin River on Tuesday in Jamestown was that of 35-year-old Sean Carpenter, who had been reported missing since April 11.
