A 7-year-old boy who was reported missing for several hours Thursday was found dead inside of a washing machine at home in Spring, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman says. Precinct 4 constable deputies responded to a missing persons call in the 4400 block of Rosegate Drive in the Birnamwood subdivision around 5:20 a.m. When constable deputies arrived at the scene, the parents of Troy Khoeler reportedly told them the 7-year-old had been missing since 4 a.m. When authorities conducted a search, they found the boy inside of a top-load washing machine located inside the garage around 7:20 a.m., Precinct 4 said. After the boy’s body was discovered, Precinct 4 said they called deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation. The boy, Troy Khoeler, was first reported missing at roughly 6:30 a.m. local time, at which time he had been missing for 2-3 hours. The boy's father was at home during the time window, while his mother is believed to have been working a shift at a nearby hospital, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Lt. Robert Minchew with the HCSO Homicide Unit said the parents of the 7-year-old were detained and taken into custody for questioning. Constable Deputies said there were “possible signs” that led them to search the home. It’s unknown if the child got into the washing machine by himself, whether there was water inside or if the lid was closed, KPRC reports. Investigators also haven’t revealed if there were signs of foul play. Deputies said Troy’s family does have a history with Child Protective Services, though further details are limited. Troy lived alone in the house with his parents, who adopted him in 2019. He had previously lived in the home as a foster child.
Prosecutors say a 7-year-old child's adoptive parents grew tired of the boy allegedly stealing snacks, leading up to his murder. Troy's body was found in a washing machine at his home. His adoptive parents, Jemaine & Tiffany Nicole Thomas, were arrested on Tuesday. Their charges were read in probable cause court early Wednesday morning. Tiffany did not appear because the judge said she's suicidal. Her injury to a child by omission charge was still read, however. The 35-year-old's bond was set at $150K. Jemaine appeared before a judge & his bond was set at $2 million. He's charged with capital murder. It was revealed in court that Troy was found with blood on his nose, a bump on his forehead & bruising on his legs. Blood was also found inside the washing machine and in the doorway. Investigators extracted text messages from Tiffany & Jemaine's cell phones. Court paperwork said Tiffany texted Jemaine that she "Threatened to put (Troy) in the stove and turn it on," until the little boy finally came clean about eating her oatmeal cream pie cookies. Some of the text messages from Jemaine to Tiffany graphically describe how Jemaine said he was going to kill the 7-year-old. The court paperwork said Jemaine allegedly covered Troy's mouth & nose with an unknown object, submerging him underwater. Bond conditions were set for the couple. Should they bond out, both Jemaine & Tiffany can't come into contact with anyone under 17. They'll both have to wear GPS monitors, too.

Bond doubled for Spring mother of boy found dead in washing machine​

Prosecutors said Tiffany and Jermaine Thomas had a "deep hatred" for their adopted son. CPS records show the child may have tried to cover for them when he was hurt.​

Tiffany and Jermaine Thomas, his adoptive parents, were arrested and charged on Nov. 15 after Troy's death was ruled a homicide.

She's charged with injury to a child by omission and he's charged with capital murder.

On Wednesday, Her bond was doubled to $300,000.

A Children's Protective Services report obtained by KHOU 11 News painted a heartbreaking picture of the life of a little boy found dead in his family's Spring home.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said an autopsy showed that Troy suffered new and old injuries before his body was found. Court documents revealed the horror the child endured before his death. They included text messages that said the mother threatened to put him in the oven and the father threatened to hang him from a tree.

Even so, CPS records show Troy may have covered up for his parents when caseworkers questioned him about past injuries.
