Festive appeal for vanished relatives

Mr Miah, a successful young businessman from Swansea, disappeared after taking a taxi ride to Neath from his home six months ago.

Restaurant manager Dobir Miah, 29, told his mother on 8 June this year he was going out. He took a taxi from their home in Swansea to Neath and he was last seen alive by the taxi driver.

And then nothing.

His bank account and credit cards were untouched and no-one answered calls to his mobile phone. CCTV footage shows him getting out of the taxi and then returning to pay the driver after getting change for a £50 note.

His brother Kabir said it was totally out of character for Dobir not to contact his family.

A co-owner of the Jaipur restaurant in Porthcawl, Dobir was also the head of his family following his father's death 17 years ago.

"He was a model brother and father figure," said Kabir. "He has never lived away from home. To be honest, our hopes are dimming. Not knowing is the hardest part for my family."

Also still missing this Christmas is Dobir Miah, a 29-year-old restaurant owner from Swansea. He told his mother last June he was going out for a walk but has not been seen since.

There is CCTV footage of Mr Miah getting out of a taxi in Neath shortly after he left his Swansea home. But he has not been heard of since and his credit card and bank account have been untouched.

No calls to or from his mobile telephone have been logged.

He was the co-owner of the Jaipur restaurant in Porthcawl and had other business interests.

Iceland and helpline link in hunt for missing man

Bangladeshi Dobir Miah, 30, has not been seen since he took a taxi to Neath from his home in Swansea on June 8, 2002. His brother Kabir, wife and two children are completely baffled by his disappearance and very concerned for his safety.

Since his disappearance there have been no sightings of Mr Miah - who is described as 5ft 9in tall, with short dark hair - and his bank account has not been touched.

On the day he disappeared Mr Miah was wearing a cream Kickers jacket, a green sweatshirt, black trousers and black shoes.

He is believed to have taken nothing with him when he left and did not have any known problems or financial difficulties that his family knew about.

I remember reading about this case and how he disappeared out of thin air. There was no reason for him to just vanish. He had a successful business and a loving family. According to his brother it was completely out of character to just disappear and they were very concerned. My theory is that he was murdered perhaps due to his race or it was an enemy from his workplace or a rivalry.

baffling how i have to bump into this and still see there is not a shred of a lead to this investigation. His case is clearly foul play but ofcourse since he isn't a boy or a female they decided to shrug his case and leave it to dust. Someone somewhere out there must know what happened to this poor fella who's dissapearence where completely out of character.
