Officers discovered bones that appear to be human in a marshy area adjacent to Paradise Creek in the Cradock section of the city. The bones were initially discovered Saturday afternoon at around 4 p.m. while officers were searching for a robbery suspect. During the search, they came upon what appeared to be bones behind a home in the 20 block of Aylwin Road.

I wonder about that card in his wallet that says "David Meyers". This is probably a common name, but the first person that pops up on Goggle is a music video director:

I'm surprised they were not able to get a name from those loyalty cards. Seems like they should have been able to contact the stores and get the name attached to the numbers. But sometimes people can get those cards without filling out the paperwork or by giving a false name.

Thoughts?

David Alphonso Myers (46) went missing in Portsmoth, Virgina 2012. Stands at 6’1”, missing part of index finger on right hand.

UID (Est. 45-67) found in Portsmouth, Virginia 2018. PMI 5+ years. Est. height 6’0” - 6’6”. One or both hands not recovered. Found with multiple plastic sleeves with remnants of writing including "David Meyers".

The only discrepancy is the spelling of missing person’s surname (Myers) vs spelling on UID’s plastic sleeve (Meyers).



Alternatively, there was also a home invasion committed by a David Meyers in Richmond VA in 2012 (approximate DOD for this Doe). Although I don’t necessarily believe this Doe is Meyers, perhaps the UID is related to that case? Whether they knew something they shouldn’t have, were just aware of or following the case, etc… It’s a shame we’re not privy to what the documents UID was found with might have been about.

I don’t believe the Meyers from Richmond and the UID are one and the same simply because there are no reports of a missing “David Meyers” and you would think that if someone due to spend potentially 30 years in prison went missing, there’d be some noise!

Just to clarify; I don’t believe the decedent is the David Meyers who partook in a home invasion. He was indicted for said crime and still incarcerated in 2017. Even if he had been released after, it wouldn’t fit the PMI (also I can’t see anything to say he is missing).

But I was thinking if this UID isn’t David A. Myers who is missing (although I can’t find any details about the circumstances), maybe he is someone who had come across something of David Meyers’ from his proceedings which took place in 2012 (which is approximately when the Doe died). If so, the UID might be someone from whichever county the trial took place in…? This theory is a long shot though. Just an alternative consideration.

Sorry, it’s a little bit convoluted but hopefully that makes more sense!

I’d be surprised if this wasn’t the missing David A. Myers. Even without the names matching, the other vital stats, location and PMI match. I would submit this for comparison if you haven’t already. Good find!

I wasn’t able to find a photo of David to compare to the recon. Maybe someone else can locate one.
