I think with serial killers you never know what your gonna get, motives aren't easily discernible either. The gun as a weapon of choice seems unusual, makes me wonder if there are more that haven't been connected to this series because they were killed another way. I'm looking for the thread on the SK in NC because I thought a gun was used in those too.

Ok I found that one in NC, they have someone they've arrested but not a lot of details. HE did shoot them in the head and they were reported to have a high risk lifestyle such as prostitution, drugs, living on the streets etc. interestingly enough I had remembered that LE was looking into a case from SC that they thought was related and as the past has shown us it's not uncommon for them to move around that's why I wondered about the killings in Daytona being connected with similar victim types and the method to kill.

Hey Strach, have you thought about tipping that to Daytona?

They have already made a connection or possible one. Thinking a cop maybe. But they did pick up two dudes in Daytona posing a police a couple of days ago. Shadow put the article in the other thread.

From December:

The tips continue to trickle in, yet the murders remain unsolved.

Three women, all prostitutes who frequented the shadowy crannies of Ridgewood Avenue looking for the next trick for just enough money to buy booze, cigarettes, drugs and food, were shot in the head execution-style a decade ago with the same gun...

On Jan. 14, 2006, 34-year-old Julie Green, a drug addict and friend of Gunther's who also turned tricks on the street, was found shot in the head in a ditch near a construction site on LPGA Boulevard. The night before, a friend of Green's told police that the mother of four had left her residence on Tomoka Road to use a payphone. She never returned...

The killer had left a clue other than his favored weapon. He left semen on Gunther and Green, police said.

Suspected serial killer from West Palm indicted for 3 murders in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man charged with killing a woman in Riviera Beach years ago is now facing three additional murder charges in central Florida.

Robert Tyrone Hayes, 37, of West Palm Beach, faces a 3-count indictment for first degree murder with a firearm.

Hayes is accused of killing Laquetta Gunther, Julie Green, and Iwana Patton in 2005 and 2006.

Investigators said DNA evidence linked Hayes to those murders and to the murder of Rachel Elizabeth Bey of Riviera Beach.

Investigators said a fifth killing, that of 30-year-old Stacey Gage, remains open.

DNA karma is such a beautiful thing. Now that his DNA is in the system, I wonder how many other crimes he committed. Like rapes without murder. Seems like he wouldn’t have started with murder first but its possible.

From Feb 2020:

Suspected Daytona Beach serial killer being held without bond

Authorities said DNA evidence from crime scenes run through genealogy sites eventually linked Hayes to the deaths of Laquetta Gunter, Julie Green and Iwana Patton. Police said the women were fatally shot between 2005 and 2006. Investigators sad they’re still working to link Hayes to the death of Stacey Gage who was fatally shot in December 2017.

He will have a pretrial hearing Feb. 18 during which a judge will decide if he should stay in Volusia County or return to Palm Beach County.

I wonder why Rachel Beys murder is not among his charges in this trial, state is being allowed to discuss her murder, she comes up frequently when discussing the evidence but she is not a part of the charges the jury will deliberate on,

maybe their will be a second trial for her murder, seems a waste of time and money to me, they have enough evidence to be able to include her in this trial under similar facts rule so they could have included her as his fourth victim
