"The Robeson County Sheriff's Office has been in contact with the United States Attorney's Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation in South Carolina since the early stages of the Mica Miller investigation," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement, local news station WPDE reported. "Based on the information gathered during the investigation and jurisdiction reasons, the Sheriff's Office has requested the assistance of both agencies. No other information will be released at this time."
A spokesperson for the FBI office in Columbia told
Newsweek: "I can confirm that we have been in communication with the Sheriff's Office, but I cannot offer additional details."
