On December 21, 1992, around noon, Arlene Stewart, age 49, was known to be at her home on Van Horn Road, just outside the town of Concrete. She did not show up for work the following day. Her car was at her residence. It does not appear she took any personal belongings, clothing, etc. from her home that would indicate she planned on being gone for an extended length of time. Arlene has not been seen or heard from since.

Details of Disappearance
Stewart was last seen in Concrete, Washington on December 24, 1992. She walked away from her home, leaving her vehicle behind, and has never been heard from again. Few details are available in her case, but authorities don't believe her disappearance was voluntary.

Stewart is her married name. Ancestry has marriage records from 1964 of Arlene Norma Harveland to Robert Lane Stewart. I do not know if she was still married at the time although there is no divorce record on the site. Her husband remarried in August 1994, so either they were divorced when she went missing or he obtained a divorce soon after. She originally came from Hampden in North Dakota. There was an Arlene Harveland who graduated in 1961 from that area (see Hampden, North Dakota: 100 Years Strong ). 1961 would be right for a 1943 birth date. The linked site also shows Harveland graduates in 1956/57/65 who may be siblings or other relations. An obituary in 1998 for Gordon Harveland, formerly of Hampden, also mentions his sister Arlene Stewart as predeceasing him (North Dakota Obituary and Death Notice Archive - Page 175 ). At that time his (and Arlene's) mother was still alive, as were 4 other siblings (and some half siblings) who are named. Given the large family I am surprised at the relative lack of coverage of this case.

I have now found the divorce record for Arlene and Robert. He filed for divorce in June 1993, six months after she disappeared and a year before he remarried. It may be that they were separated or considering divorce when she disappeared but, if not, he seems to have acted very quickly.
