http://www.thv11.com/news/local/fbi-renewing-interest-in-north-little-rock-cold-case/451072236

A 19 year old woman last seen at a North Little Rock truck stop was found more than a week later, dead in a ditch in Memphis.

On November 15, 2006, Tracy Jones was selling magazines at the Pilot gas station of I-40 near Galloway. It's the last place the 19-year-old would be seen alive.

It has been 10 years since Tracy Jones was killed, sparking a new effort from the FBI to bring her killer to justice. The FBI is falling back on old school police methods to solve a cold case growing colder by the day.

ETA:
CORRECTION: Her middle name is spelled 'Onawa' but is commonly misspelled as Owana

Thank you so much for posting this. Tracy Onawa Jones was my friend all through my childhood and she is very much missed.

I was shocked to see this news report the other day and that her case is being re-investigated! Hopefully the $15,000 reward will bring in some tips to the detective.

I've been sharing this article all over FB and I ask of anyone who reads this to please share the link above of her case to help spread awareness.

Unbeknownst to the North Little Rock police or the family, Tracy's body was found in Memphis, Tenn., on Nov. 26.
The FBI is involved in the investigation, as the case spans multiple states.
Jones is not the first teen to disappear while selling magazine subscriptions for a company associated with Atlantic Circulations, Inc. In August of 2003, Jennifer Hammond, 18, of Colorado, was dropped off at a trailer park in Saratoga County, New York. Like Tracy, she never showed at the designated time and place to get picked up. She also never picked up her train ticket home. Hammond has never been found.
Jones worked for the company Epic Subscriptions, which Blair said he has owned for about five years. Epic Subscriptions uses Atlantic Circulation, Inc., as a clearinghouse to process magazine orders

dotr Thanx for adding her picture. I couldn't figure out how to add it myself.

I wonder if there are other victims with her same MO around the Arkansas and TN area any time during the 2000's.

I have yet to come across another unsolved case of a ditched female, bound and stabbed.

Glad to see the title has changed to the correct spelling of her name "Onawa".

Just wanted to note that Jennifer Hammond's body has been located and that there may be other similar cases, speculation.
http://www.nclnet.org/teen_s_death_raises_concern_about_one_of_the_worst_jobs_for_teens
For the last several years, the National Consumers League (NCL) has warned parents and teens that traveling sales crews are too dangerous for young workers. The discovery last week of the remains of Jennifer Hammond, who was only 18 when she disappeared from a sales crew six years ago, heightens our concern about the safety of traveling sales crews for teen workers. Jennifer Hammond was one of those teenagers who knocks on your door and tries to sell you magazines. In August 2003, co-workers at Atlantic Circulation, Inc. dropped Hammond, a native of Littleton, Colorado, off in a mobile home park in Milton, New York. She failed to show up at the designated pickup spot two hours later. Six years later, a hunter found some bone fragments and teeth in a forest in Saratoga County, New York and forensic specialists identified the remains as Hammond’s. Local police are investigating the case as a homicide.

Members of sales crews are vulnerable to assault and exploitation from customers, fellow crew members, and their superiors.

Unfortunately, Jennifer Hammond’s suspected murder is not the first associated with work in traveling sales crews: In November 2007, Tracie Anaya Jones, 19, a member of a traveling sales crew, was found dead of stab wounds in Memphis, Tennessee. Her killing remains unsolved and is featured on “America’s Most Wanted” Web site. In Rapid City, South Dakota in April 2004,

Also, speculation...

Police would not answer questions about similarities to the case of another missing girl, Christina White.

White's remains were found in 2006 in a wooded area in the Town of Greenfield, about four miles from where Hammond's remains were discovered. Both girls were also last seen in two different trailer parks less than one mile from each other.

Wasn't there also a girl missing in or was from Florida doing this? This story sounds so familiar.

Thanx for the advice. I have cleared my messages :)

Although I was a friend of Tracy's, I do not know much more details of her murder other than what's in news articles so there's no need for me to look into being a verified insider.

I do realize there are other cases of magazine sale's persons whom have also been murdered... they are similar but are most likely unrelated, in my opinion.

-Tracy and the other victims, like Jennifer, were not apart of the same crew and have no connection to one another other than there profession and that they were abducted/murdered while on the job. (the clearing house of Atlantic Circulation may be the same in these cases but not the crews themselves)
-The odds of a serial killer that only targets magazine sale crew members across the US also doesn't sound likely to me.

It's necessary to connect similar sales related murders to raise awareness about the dangers involved which I think was one of the main purposes of the past news article that mentions both Tracy and Jennifer.
But I don't think connecting them will lead to the same suspect.

Hi all,
I am just sharing some information that I got today. I run my own blog for missing people and unsolved murder cases, and today I received some information from a woman who believes her ex-husband was responsible for Tracy's death.
She told me how he confessed to her that he had killed someone before, and she also said that he had a really violent side, and could see it being a reality.
I have forwarded the message I received, along with her contact details, to the FBI and Little North Rock Police Department.

I hope that this brings justice for Tracy.

''In today's edition of Overdrive Radio, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Ann Alexander talks about the Little Rock, Arkansas, field office's push this week to gather leads on the 2006 murder of 19-year-old Tracy Owana Jones, who disappeared in November that year from a Little Rock-area truck stop where she’d been working to collect magazine subscriptions.

Jones was last seen on November 15, 2006, a Wednesday, at the Pilot Travel Center at the Galloway exit off I-40 east of Little Rock. Her body was found more than a week later on Sunday, November 26, in a field off I-40 in Memphis, Tennessee. Cause of death: Blunt force trauma, Alexander said.''

From the FBI's information-wanted poster, a picture of Jones from the time -- Public Information Officer Connor Hagan noted to keep in mind Jones was 5'4", weighing approximately 110 pounds. Find more details in the podcast and via this link to the full poster.

Alexander and others on the FBI team indicate here just how you might be able to help if details of the case jog your memory of her from that time. There’s a new $25,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction. Those with tips can contact agent Alexander via the FBI Little Rock field office at 501-221-9100 or dial 800-CALL-FBI.''

I cropped in a clearer pic. I also added in 2nd pic of her and the Little Rock field office phone #.

Here I gathered info from the many news articles since 2006 and typed this out so all the info is more convenient for readers. Links are provided at the end.

Tracy Onawa Jones (Commonly mis-spelled as “Tracie”, “Tracey”, “Owana”, “Onaya”, “Anaya”)
Forever loved and missed by many.

The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for info leading to the piece/s of *advertiser censored* who killed Tracy Onawa Jones. What happened to her is tragically disgusting and, although nothing will bring her back, we want whoever did this to be exposed and their freedom removed. Please share to spread awareness!

19yr old Tracy was last seen on Wednesday, November 15th 2006 at the Pilot Travel Center at the Galloway exit off I-40 east of North Little Rock, AR. She had a slender build, at 5’4”, 110lbs and was wearing blue jeans, a dark blue Georgia Tech hoodie and white tennis shoes. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail.

Tracy, last living in Albany, OR, joined a traveling magazine sales crew. Her employer/boyfriend, Robert Blair, dropped her off to sell magazine subscriptions. The gas station/truck stop was a well frequented place by the “average Jo” but she had also been seen talking to truckers in and out that day as well. When Blair called her to be picked up later that day, there was no answer.
The following day on the 16th Blair reached out to Tracy’s mom residing in Oregon(sadly whom passed away Jan 2022) and she too had not heard from her daughter. An official report was made by Blair on the 17th. Together they tried to get authorities to have the news spread awareness but by the time Tracy’s picture was finally posted by news media, her body had unknowingly already been found in TN.

⚠️Trigger warning. Disturbing info below.

Tracy’s body was found 11 days later on Sunday November 26th, 2006 at 3:50pm, left in a ditch of a semi-wooded area off Highway 61 in the area of South Third St near Westview in Memphis, TN according to past news articles. The location her body was discovered was NOT her place of death.
She was partially nude, bound with tape, sexually assaulted and had several stab wounds to her head and body. The cause of death was blunt force head trauma.
Multiple DNA samples have been collected and are being investigated.
There’s not an exact date from the coroner, but she died closer to the 26th when she was discovered, which from my understanding must mean she was held captive for possibly up to 10 days or so. ⚠️

Agent Ann Alexander and Conner Hagan are seeking help, especially from the trucking community that traveled the I-40 corridor Wednesday Nov 15th - Sunday Nov 26th, 2006 that may have seen Tracy or heard anything unusual. Any info at all, please submit a tip!

It wasn’t clarified if the multiple DNA samples collected were from one unknown person or more than one.
