BOLO MISSING PERSON

Garland Warren. White male, 82 years of age, 5’6” 170 lbs, gray hair, brown eyes.

Last seen on Monday, June 10, 2024. Garland left driving in a black in color, 2003 Toyota Tundra, displaying Georgia Tag # BTQ2000.

Anyone who may have information regarding Garland’s whereabouts, or if you see this vehicle, please contact the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Unit at 478-272-1522, or call 911.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office also published a Facebook post because Warren has dementia, Lt. Thad DeLoach confirmed.

Warren’s vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Tundra, was last picked up by flock cameras in Fort Valley and Twiggs County on Highway 96. DeLoach estimated that he’s an hour and a half away from the Sheriff’s Office.

DeLoach noted that the flock cameras are accessible by several other agencies. He said these police departments and other Sheriff's offices will be alerted if Warren’s truck is picked up by the flock cameras again.

“We’re not sure where he’s going; we’re not sure if he really knows where he’s going,” DeLoach said.

They say one of the last places he was seen at is Frozen Joe's on East Agency Street in Roberta. He went inside there to ask for directions to a gas station.

She said her husband has no cellphone, and their chihuahua-mix puppy named Smokey is missing.

He was driving a black truck with a Georgia Southern sticker on the drivers side back glass.
There is an Under Armor sticker on the passenger side back glass. The truck had new fenders on the drivers side front, and the passenger side back that were freshly painted. The rest of the truck was faded.

On Monday, the family of a missing Laurens County man launched the largest search party yet since he was last seen one week ago.

On Monday morning, 20 groups split up into different parts of the county to search, including agents with the FBI and GBI and other agencies and volunteers.
People continue to search for him in planes, on foot, in cars, and even on four-wheelers.
Roberta Police Chief Ty Matthews said Crawford County is large and has a lot of back roads and rural areas so they need all the help they can get.
Matthews says he does not believe Warren left Crawford County.

On Tuesday morning, the family of 82-year-old Garland Warren continued their search for him in Taylor County with the help of volunteers.

He believes the truck was relocated after his Facebook post.
"After about 4 hours after I made the post all of the sudden the truck got moved after 11 days and picked up on flock camera in Spalding County. His truck was back in over here in the corner you know there's no cameras on this side of the dollar store," said Barrow.

There is an update on the Spalding County SO FB page - I'm snipping the important bit:

Late Saturday night, Investigators spoke with Robert Earnest Peppers W/M 62, and Kelly Gail Osborn W/F 56 at their residence. While being questioned by Investigators, Peppers admitted to being the person who drove Mr. Warren’s vehicle and parking it behind the Dollar General. Osborn admitted she was following Peppers and picked him up after he dropped off the vehicle. Both were brought to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office for interview, and a search warrant was executed on their residence.
Based on their interview, Investigators were able to locate a road and find the location where Mr. Warren’s vehicle had been pulled from a ditch and driven away by Peppers. Investigators, L.A.W.S. personnel and others were activated again and responded to that area along with STAR, and multiple K-9’s. During the search of the area a piece of mail belonging to Mr. Warren was found. Further interviews and information gathered led to the execution of a second search warrant on this residence this morning where items now known to be from Mr. Warren’s vehicle were recovered.
Both Peppers and Osborn are currently in custody at the Spalding County Jail and are being further questioned about their role and involvement with Mr. Warren. For now, they have been charged with theft by receiving stolen property.”

Mr. Warren still hasn't been located.

In a statement released on Monday, Sheriff Dix wrote:

"We have had questions about civilians and civilian groups coming to Spalding County to search for Mr. Warren, and we have had a few reports of it. It has led to Deputies and Investigators being sent on a couple of wild goose chases by folks that mean well, but do not have the facts that we are using to conduct this investigation. All this does is move our attention away from locating Mr. Warren and slow things down because we will be having to deal with them at the same time. Even if we search an area, we may have to return to it based on new information we receive as the investigation continues and new leads are developed. Having people trample through these areas on foot, on ATV’s, with dogs, horses, and search areas on their own does not help, it can actually hinder our investigation and the gathering of pertinent evidence. If we need outside help, we have no problem reaching out to citizens and asking for help…”
"I have said many times before, when an investigation is being conducted, we just can’t blurt out everything we know or do a minute-by-minute update.“
