At the hospital, doctors told police they believed she suffered “substantial” brain damage and her injuries were of “grave danger.” Small ligature marks were found on her neck.

Prior to the incident, court records showed the mother filed an eviction notice against Kobold for allegedly not “following agreed upon house rules.”

She died a few days later.

In order to avoid eviction, Kobold had 30 days to get a job, clean his room and help clean the common areas of the home...

Kobold is charged with murder and aggravated battery in connection with the death of his mother, court records show. He has pleaded not guilty.

The trial is scheduled to begin in August 2024.

Kobold does have a history of mental health issues — he told a judge in February that he had been an inpatient in two mental health facilities and seen five different therapists...
Her obituary tragically states that Kobold was the most important thing in her accomplished life.

This is so true. How terrible to have an adult child living at home, who has an obvious mental illness. LEO is not going to get involved, until actual laws are broken. I wonder if the victim had ever called LEO to her home? If her son had threatened her, or been violent in the past?
