Circumstances of Disappearance
Anja lived with her parents on a farm in Midlum. On the day she disappeared, Anja did not feel well and wanted to stay at home to cure her headache.
Later, a friend of Anja wanted to pick her up for a visit to a disco. With him she left her parents' house around 9 p.m. and went off with him.
Her friend, who left the disco for a short time, did not find Anja when he returned. Since then she has been missing.
Her disappearance is linked to other missing persons cases in the north of Germany:
Angelika Kielmann, 1978
Anke Streckenbach, 1979
Iris Schwarz, 1980
Andrea Martens, 1980
Christina Bohle, 1982
Uta Flemming, 1985
Jutta Schneefuß, 1986
It is believed that she was possibly a victime of the “Göhrde murderer” Kurt-Werner Wichmann, convicted of five murders that happened during 1989. He died in jail in 1993.
Anja's mother never stopped looking for her daughter.
