Mr Dann then flagged his intention to seek a rare legal move to delay Lynn's sentence under s309 of the Criminal Procedure Act.

"The law says such an application could only be allowed in highly unusual, highly extreme situations," he said.
"That is an extremely rare application to even make and even more rare to be granted."

Justice Michael Croucher said the application to stay, if granted, would delay Lynn's sentence pending an appeal.

Wouldn't that be great. A bail application could be pending!

So very frustrating knowing that these sort of appeals are contributing to clogging up the court system causing delays for other cases.
GL is exactly where he should be. Even if we put aside the fact that he was found GUILTY for the murder of Carol Clay, the manner in which he desecrated the bodies of Russell and Carol is abhorent and alarming.

We know Greg Lynn is a liar. He initially told the police he had never met Russell Hill and Carol Clay.

Lynn then provided the police and the court with his little fantasy story of how Hill and Clay died and we saw how well that went with the jury.

Lynn is a liar and a murderer.

It is also a strong indicator of his guilt. Instead of spending hours burning their bodies, he could have spent some time digging graves to lay them to rest ... intact. IF they had died in the manner in which he claims.

Interested to know why you think it would be great.
It is obvious that the majority of us who have posted on this thread believe that GL is where he belongs, behind bars.
This is for obvious reasons that have been posted in this forum.
It would be interesting to hear from someone who disagrees with the majority and your reasoning for this.
Perhaps we are missing something.

Exactly, if was an accident that’s the logical thing to do, as they would know that the evidence would back up what they were saying and they would be in the clear.

Valid comment Stacey_victoria. There are first-hand witnesses to many of the stories and I am positive that the police have spoken to these witnesses.

I found my answer :

In a pre-trial hearing over the deaths of the elderly couple, Lynn's barrister Dermot Dann said the defence was considering introducing evidence pointing to his "good character".
Prosecutors said they would counter that, and discussed potential evidence, including statements from Ms Lynn's grieving family which were part of the coroner's brief.
In the end, both sets of lawyers agreed to leave the topic out of the murder trial.
The hearing was read part of a statement from Ms Lynn's mother, which said she believed her daughter was "living in absolute fear of Greg".

I think the next hearing, on 12th September, is where that may happen (if it happens). It is when the victim impact statements will be read. And also when the defence has its say about what it thinks are mitigating factors.

Liar?
Lynn lied to the police. He initially told them he'd never met or seen Russell Hill and Carol Clay. That makes him a liar and not just a run of the mill liar. Someone who lies to the police.

Murderer?
Lynn is a convicted murderer awaiting sentencing.

Wife abuser?
That is well documented. Forgotten how he 'locked his wife out in the cold to teach her a lesson'.

Violent animal killer?
The pig? The dog?

All of the above are founded.

The prosecution had 48 witnesses. The defence had one witness, Lynn himself.

There is a very good reason why the defence didn't call any character witnesses. If they had, the prosecution would have been entitled to call rebuttal witnesses and those witnesses would have been able to convey to the jury exactly what type of person they had sitting in front of them in the dock and that's the very last thing Dann and Lynn wanted to happen
