Donald Trump ducked at a rally as shots appeared to be fired at the former president.

Trump pumped a fist at the crowd and did not seem to severely injured as he walked on his own off the stage, surrounded by secret service.

The shooting unfolded as Trump addressed supporters at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Hey Everyone,
You are seeing many members on timeouts. We put up several warnings asking you not to post unapproved sources, not to post wild "facts" without linking to an approved source, and to stop being political. When members post things like this, it creates so much work for our mods because a ton of members report it. We have to check it out and deal with it again and again.
I don't like having to do this but I don't know how else to get our message across.
We want you to discuss, but you know the rules. It's why Websleuths is considered a reliable source for the public and law enforcement.
Thank you,
Tricia

My Friends,
I don't like taking my blood pressure medicine however, due to the fact that some members have been making blatant political posts about this situation has caused me to double my medication today.
WE DO NOT ALLOW POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS. This is about the horrific crime of an attempted assassination of a presidential candidate. Please keep on topic.
The on-topic discussion includes what is uncovered about the shooter. His information is relevant.
Thank you very much. My blood pressure thanks you as well.

The House is expected to vote on a resolution this week to establish the task force and its members.

"The task force will be empowered with subpoena authority and will move quickly to find the facts, ensure accountability, and make certain such failures never happen again," Johnson and Jeffries said in a statement Tuesday

U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who was subpoenaed by the U.S. House Oversight and Accountability Committee to testify on the assassination attempt, was originally scheduled to speak at a different Aspen Security Forum event on Wednesday morning before Saturday’s events resulted in last-minute schedule changes.

Article on the whistleblower who claims the local LE who was assigned to be on the roof left his spot because he thought it was too hot.

This is starting to clarify things for me. This tells me these things might have happened:

  • local LE made mistakes and were negligent in covering the outer areas of the event site
  • they didn't communicate these changes or share information with Secret Service
  • most of the critical changes and mistakes happened in the minutes before Trump went on stage
  • SS wasn't aware the local LE had abandoned his post on the roof
  • SS wasn't aware that local LE were clustered inside the building instead of guarding it on the outside
  • SS possibly wasn't made aware of the presence of the suspicious person in time to postpone Trump going onstage
WRT the current investigation, being conducted by FBI

  • All the people who might have been involved in or aware of the mistakes are all pointing fingers and covering themselves and their friends
  • FBI is possibly being given false information from local LE, hearing conflicting stories, so they aren't confident giving a lot of specific information to SS or Congress.
  • FBI may not be certain who is telling the truth and will have to rely on video, audio, digital communication etc. evidence to sort out many details.
  • Conflicting stories from local LE might be making it hard to know how the killer got on the roof, ladders, etc. JMO, there was also poor communication among local LE and to SS.
It's going to take a while to sort out these LE witness accounts, but they will. SS is not conducting the investigation, its the responsibility of the FBI who calls on other agencies to help, provide info.

JMO, this has been my first best guess for a while, especially seeing video of bystanders trying to alert local LE about the killer on the roof and the report that local LE were grouped inside the building with the killer on the roof. WTH were they doing inside the building. They need to be outside. That's unusual.

I don't think anything suspicious happened, they just weren't doing what they were told to do by SS. These mistakes were made in the critical moments before Trump went onstage, so most SS probably weren't aware of the risks. JMO

"The director declined to answer questions about how the security perimeter was drawn for the rally, whether law enforcement swept the roof in advance or how many agents were assigned to the event, saying a review of the breakdown is ongoing, Cheatle acknowledged that [gunman Thomas Matthew] Crooks was identified as suspicious, with a range finder—which resembles binoculars that hunters use to measure distance to a target—and backpack, more than an hour before he opened fire at Trump's rally. Pressed by lawmakers, she acknowledged that Secret Service agents had received multiple notifications of a person acting suspiciously."

"Mike Tyson says it this way, 'Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth.' Secret Service just got punched in the mouth."
From your link:

"Changing leadership in the midst of chaos only introduces more chaos."

Re when LE swept the roof, guarded it, etc. my theory is that it was done by local LE who are now covering up mistakes they made. Neither FBI nor SS can say whether those things happened until they get to the truth.

Why weren’t the radio comm recorded?

Local le and ss were not on a shared frequency, why not?

What’s this about a man in grey suit on the roof? Who was he?

She knows how many shell casing where on the roof and would not say, why not?

She said the buck stops at her. SS was the overseer they are to blame, no one else. They thought their presence was enough, they failed miserably.

I didn't realise there was even a higher building with windows overlooking the roof. So they should have still seen even without anybody stationed on the roof.

Bottom line... If any or all law enforcement left their post it was up to the Secret service to either cover the area or prevent the former president from entering the venue.

Not being informed is not an excuse, and IF the Secret Service were observing and patrolling the enter perimeter, they would have known the outer perimeter building was not covered. I mean come on.

Where wss the Secret Service site supervisor, locked in a room with no communication with local law enforcement? Either they only had a few Secret Service and nobody in charge or these agents were extremely incompetent not to notice no local law enforcement covering a building.

Secret Service tried to get by with the bare minimum of government agents and it blew up in their face. A man died, a former president with a gunshot wound, two seriously injured Americans. Many lives changed forever.

Ain't NO excuse, just ain't NONE. The US Constitution states they are to protect former president they failed. They delegated critical oversight and did not ensure or follow through.

I'm pretty tired of hearing the Secret Service say .... it ain't my fault. More tired of hearing... I'm waiting on the FBI investigation. Well they ought to be holding their own internal investigation.

What were the state police doing? They were everywhere immediately after the shooting?
Did they turn the blind eye?

Why didn't the snipers notify the Secret Service no one was covering the building? They had a birds eye view.

Are these agencies and agents so compartmentalize they can't see a broad picture?

It clearly appears to me that secret service, state police did not involve, meet with, communicate with local law enforcement effectively.

Local le and ss were not on a shared frequency, why not?
Probably because there's important information they discuss among themselves that they don't want known to local LE. They don't know how secure local LE comm lines are.

For example, SS don't know whether some secret escape route, etc. they're discussing is being overheard by someone suspicious listening in on local LE line or if that information is inadvertently being transmitted over a radio that everyone can hear.

When SS is working an event, they're usually wearing discreet earpieces as opposed to local LE radio.

Bottom line... If any or all law enforcement left their post it was up to the Secret service to either cover the area or prevent the former president from entering the venue.

As I mentioned, I think this happened in the short moments before Trump went onstage. It was an outdoor event with tens of thousands of people in attendance. Local LE was handling most of the area that was far from the stage. The security assigned to the building where the sniper was located was under the surveillance of local LE, not SS.

Conversely, why didn't local LE notify SS immediately that the officer had left the roof and that the rest of their group was inside the building, not patrolling the outside of the building?

And no one noticed the building wasn't covered and there were no local law enforcement on the ground? Not the Secret service, nor the state police.

If local LE abandoned, failed to provide an initiate agreed services and staff....They need to be charged with murder and assault.

But bottom line .... Secret service is required by law to protect a former president.
