FAIRBORN, OHIO (TND) — A severely malnourished 3-year-old girl who was found clinging to life in a squalid Ohio apartment is improving at an area hospital, according to authorities.

As of Friday, Penrod said she now weighs 23 pounds and continues to make progress.

The hospital staff said she made "remarkable improvements over the past week," Penrod told The National Desk in an email. "She is beginning to interact with the staff by displaying choices, making intentional movements, and is now tracking with her eyes at all times."

Tough little girl. So glad she is improving. Seems to me that LE got there in the nick of time for the little one -- another hour or so later, it may well have been too late.
And...it looks like the "caregiver" was found, too. Grrrrr.
All IMO.
Again, cheers for this little one :) ! Hoping she will continue to improve.
And thanks and blessings to LE who found the child when they did.

Rabyah has filed a motion to suppress her statements to LE because she wasn't read her miranda rights. That motion will be heard on May 16, 2024. I like this court site. you can not only access the docket but can review docs filed in this case.

She's pleading out, not sure what they've offered her in that regard but the state agrees to her plea change.

"Muballigh is going to prison for several years, as she should. Her primary responsibility was to care for that child and she failed to do that and caused that child serious physical harm."

"Many parents feel overwhelmed and many parents need help. If you find yourself in a situation where you can't handle it, reach out to the many organizations that can provide assistance."

always pisses me off when these mothers have dyed hair or makeup on or whatever. you have time and effort to put into your appearance but not to feed your offspring??? insane

The child's father, Corel Michael Moody is also set to go to trial in October after being indicted for endangering a child, obstructing justice, and tampering with evidence earlier this month.

interesting that this is the first I have heard of the father being charged or even being in the picture. May he rot as well.

So glad this sweet-looking child is away from the awfulness that was in that house. Hoping all that is needed is food, cleanliness, loving care from good folks, a clean bed in a nice room, a doctor's check-up, and not anything that will hold the child back from growing up with good and loving folks.
As for the parents, wishing them great awfulness and long jail-time. JMO.
