So do all cases not go into subjudice at some point? What determines which do or don't? (American here, where AFAIK, we don't have that... unless it's similar to what we'd call a gag order.)
They are effectively gagged from the start. It's why we often only really find out just how heinous some crimes or or thr motivations or anything about the attsckers once they've been found guilty.

The big question mark with this one will be whether he pleads straight guilty or non-guilty on grounds of diminished responsibility.

The teenager accused of stabbing three little girls to death once starred as Doctor Who for a Children in Need promotional video for the BBC, MailOnline can reveal.

Axel Rudakubana wore a brown trench coat and tie as he emerged from the Tardis for a 2018 BBC fundraising clip.

The now 17-year-old starred alongside four child actors dressed as other incarnations of the Doctor for the promo called 'It's time to do your thing'.

The BBC and the child talent agency who had employed him both deleted the video today as the association emerged.

[…]

The video is understood to have been shot on location in nearby Blackpool in early 2018.

The talent agency - which is co-run by Laura Beckford, wife of former Everton footballer Jermaine Beckford, and her older brother Andrew - declined to comment, but managers are understood to be ‘very upset’ at learning of the association.

The agency last night deleted a series of Facebook posts about Axel's budding acting career.

One promoting the video read: 'Look out for Ology superstar Axel in the new promo for Children In Need!!'.

That must be devastating for the families of the murdered girls and those victims, wich he brutally attacked
To know he was a promotor BBC "for children in need"

<modsnip - no link>

<modsnip - following refers to the fact that the BBC removed the video>. The promo features other children, given the wild speculation and online investigaton of other unrelated parties I think this is probably to protect other parties who may have been on camera with the suspect.

A source at the corporation said: ‘Children in Need has no relationship to Axel Rudakubana.

'The individual was contracted by the BBC for the campaign video through a casting agency in 2018 and has never had an affiliation with any of our funded projects.’

A BBC Children in Need spokesperson: 'Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone impacted by this shocking case, and we have removed the video from all of our platforms out of respect to them.'

' The mother of three who sparked havoc with false claim about Southport suspect'

No news source - reputable or otherwise - used the false name before her tweet at 4.49pmThe first so-called news source to use the name was @channel 3 now news 61 minutes after her post

MOD NOTE: And as noted in the article, that source is a Russian linked misinformation site which isn't allowed here.

Whoops!

How has he gone from that to being charged with triple murder six years later? I suspect his mental health and what engagement he's had with mental health services are going to play a large role in his trial.

Is it verified that he is on the autism spectrum?

I’m not sure where that came from.

"Throughout two court hearings, Rudakubana kept his sweatshirt pulled up to his hairline and refused to speak to confirm his name and address.

As he rocked side to side in the dock, Liverpool Crown Court heard how the teen had been "diagnosed with autism" and had been "unwilling to leave the house and communicate with family for a period of time". Neighbours told the Mirror how the defendant could often be heard singing inside his family home in Banks, Lancashire, and he once appeared in a West End musical.

But others claimed they had never laid eyes on the Cardiff-born teenager in the seven years his family had resided in the quiet cul-de-sac. A nearby resident who asked not to be named, said: "It's a massive shock. He would come in from school and be singing. He never went out, we never saw them. We never spoke to them more than to say hello in seven years."

Yep.
I was waiting for:
"He always said Hello"
from neighbours.

And, of course
"It's a massive shock".

Some things never change.
