That poor child. Rest in peace, Miranda.

It sounds like there was a history of problems at the home. Records show child injury, welfare calls made to Atascosa County home where 12-year-old girl was fatally injured

KSAT requested records from the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office showed that three calls were made to the home prior to Monday.
  • On March 28, deputies were called for a welfare check after a “female” was seen with scratches on her, records show. A deputy was sent to the home, and both a “male” and “female” stated it was “all verbal.”
  • On Nov. 1, Jourdanton Elementary School called Child Protective Services to report marks on a child. CPS called authorities to report the information, records show. No further information about the case was revealed in the documents.
  • On Oct. 29, a person called authorities and reported [stepfather] Gonzales was at the location and refused to leave. Authorities responded and the parties were separated.

Where do we start with this one, folks? Just damm.
We see all kinds of awfulness here every day, but this one is wa-y-y out yonder.
WTH were they thinking? The parents certainly seem healthy enuff.
So glad the "parents" are behind bars.
And glad that Miranda is where she will never be sick or hurting again.

Four days they waited while this girl was dying.

IMO : The 'mom'/egg donor has a smirk.
Stepdad looks like could have a temper ?

This story reminds me of Emani Moss. Parent and stepparent, history of mistreatment at home, child services involvement, lies unresponsive for days while parents refuse to get medical care, eventually dies at home. I really feel for children who suffer in this way. Just heart wrenching.

The egg donor seems kind of 'into herself' ?
Otherwise just too much use of filters ?

I expect we'll hear more in the coming weeks about what happened to Miranda.
Initial charges may be upgraded.

I dunno, he kinda looks scared poopless to me, she doesn't even look sad that her kid is dead.
I'm interested to hear more details when they come out, who & what caused the injuries.
Miranda was beautiful and apparently outgoing and social despite what was going on at home.
Once again, the innocent children are gone and we are left with the monsters.
RIP Miranda, you deserved so much better.

A few additional details from this article: Everything we know about the investigation into 12-year-old girl’s death, parents’ arrest in Atascosa County

"On Aug. 16, the sheriff’s office said an autopsy indicated that Sipps “experienced a trauma to her neck.” The agency is still awaiting the Medical Examiner’s final report. [Sheriff] Soward said the injuries were life-threatening and put her in a state of unconsciousness."

"Sheriff David Soward said the couple may not have wanted law enforcement at their house because it was “unkempt.” The sheriff’s office said, “Sipps was kept on a homemade bedding area in an environment that was not kept to a reasonable standard of cleanliness. She’d been in that situation, laying on the floor for four days.”"

abuse injury? cheerleading injury? what on earth happened to this beautiful girl??

there has to be more to the decision to just let her lay there and die over days than an generally messy house. Right?

Odd wording, imo.

"Experienced a trauma" ... sounds like a fall or natural accident as in a tree branch crashing on her ?
Except the arrests indicate something much more nefarious.

I wonder if it was a suicide attempt. If this poor girl had reached such despair she resorted to that act, I can quite see how these particular ‘parents’ — with the living conditions described — felt responsible and hoped to sweep it under the rug.
I think you are correct. The mother found her.
During a media briefing on Aug. 15, Soward said that Balbaneda explained how the injuries happened but he didn’t want to share those details until the sheriff’s office had confirmed her cause of death.

“We still have a little bit of doubt; we need to figure that out,” Soward said.

I think the living conditions were not quite like the sheriffs was quoted, , “Sipps was kept on a homemade bedding area in an environment that was not kept to a reasonable standard of cleanliness.” I think that was a nice way of saying the house was a pig pen.

The Mother and "step father" didn't cause the injuries but didn't seek the medical treatment she obviously needed.
“We have determined that upon being found by her mother, Sipps was still alive, although in dire need of immediate medical treatment,” the sheriff’s office stated in an Aug. 16 updated press release.

Regardless of how the injuries occurred, Soward said the parents “failed to act.”

“You still have a duty to provide medical care for a 12-year-old child,” he said.
