Missing South Carolina woman walked out of home after argument, mom receives strange text: report
…On the day Barnes left home, she and her husband "were having your typical young, married couple disagreements," the police chief said.
Barnes' mother, Cecilia Varvara,
told WYFF 4 that she received a message from Barnes' phone on Sept. 10 that did not sound like her daughter.
Now, detectives are working to investigate where Barnes went after walking away from her house that day. Highway 28 runs through the town, so it's not unusual for people to catch buses or hitch a ride out of town, Crosby explained.
We're looking into everything. We're looking into any possibilities via her social media or anything like that — if she got a ride, if she flagged someone down and got a ride," he said. "We do know that she did not leave the country. … We're just continuing to look for any clues to where she had gone on foot."

Crosby, who has been in contact with Varvara, confirms to PEOPLE that she has claimed several times that she received text messages from an account under Barnes’ name, but doesn't believe them to be from her daughter.
Crosby tells PEOPLE this is not an official determination by investigators and is currently considered Varvara's suspicion.
While they have information on when and where the missing wife’s phone last pinged, Crosby says they are not disclosing this information at this time.

Few details about the case have been released but Crosby said Barnes' husband is not a suspect in her disappearance at this time.
Her family released a statement through
Blunt Force Media thanking the community for continuing the search for Barnes.
"While we cannot comment on the progress of the investigation into her disappearance, we can confirm that no suspect or persons of interest have been named by law enforcement at this time," the family's statement said.
"The case remains very active, and authorities are continuing to work this case as a missing person.
"We are hopeful for answers and remain steadfast in our faith that God will continue to guide us through this difficult time as we search for her."
