    Trial Discussion Thread #5 - 14.03.11-12, Day 7-8

I think the whole darkness issue is a cover-up excuse so OP can "justify" shooting Reeva. I don't believe he was in the dark at all. If it was so dark he couldn't see whether Reeva was in the bed, it is doubtful that she would attempt to grope her way to the loo in the pitch black. I think the...

You make some great points. I have often thought that Nel has been daydreaming through this trial. Seems as though he is being very passive while Roux is browbeating everyone. I don't get it.

I totally agree. And I think m'lady cannot help but be sickened by the gruesomeness of this crime, much less the senselessness of such a bright life extinguished.

Shane, as someone previously said, you should be called The Riddler. I wish you'd just show and tell -- you're making me crazy. A propos of nothing in particular, IMO Oscar's huge successes were in the past. Often, when olympic stars reach the end of their career, they may face a void. Their...

Well. if it wasn't rage (but I think it was), another possibility is that Oscar is very child-like (narcissistic, used to getting his own way, petulant, etc) so maybe Reeva was ready to break off with him and he just couldn't deal with that...the old, if I can't have her scenario.... I sure...

I always thought that Daylight Savings Time was a North American thing...except for places like Arizona and Saskatchewan who opt out... just sayin'.!

My take on it was that when Roux posited to Dr Stipp that the first sounds were gunshots and, therefore,it followed that a cricket bat must have made the second sounds...if you compared the two, would you say they sounded alike? In that scenario, what else could Dr Stipp do but agree that A...

Yes, Roux has been up against some very credible and strong ear witnesses, but hasn't been very successful in getting them to change their testimony. (I'll bet he is used to walking over most witnesses) He can be so arrogant, patronizing and single-minded until you want to pull your hair out...

    Trial Discussion Thread #3 - 14.03.08-09, Weekend

After all the evidence is presented, will there be closing arguments? And when the case is passed over to M'Lady for a decision, is it likely to take days (or weeks) for the verdict to come through due to the legal reasoning she must provide? Not sure what that involves, but obviously it's not...

    Trial Discussion Thread #3 - 14.03.08-09, Weekend

Reeva was dressed at 3 am... either she went to bed that way (unlikely on such a hot night) or maybe she had decided to leave after all the arguing. Her overnight bag was right by the bed, perhaps she had just put her clothes on. OP then flies into a rage. Any scenario you think of has the same...

Which category would killing someone in an angry rage fall into?

All the same, I'd want to be sure to be honest on the stand knowing that you will be cross-examined on your testimony. Lying may work well for a sociopath, but normal people don't pull it off that well. JMO.

I just don't think I would like to live in an urban area where any number of people can and are carrying guns.

MD's story that he asked (in a nice way!) Are you talking to me? is completely refuted by the independent witness (Steven Smith IIRC) who says MD shouted "You're not going to talk to me like that" just prior to the shooting. Clearly, MD has soft pedalled his role in this crime.

It sounds like the ridiculously complicated jury instructions are so convoluted that your common sense and life skills knowledge take a back seat when deliberating.

Just in case he squeaks out of this, I hope LE have confiscated all his guns, and he be forbidden to ever again own or fire a gun.

Every time I have seen Jordan Davis' parents being interviewed, I have been so impressed by their grace and their eloquence. So thoughtful and sensitive, and they have behaved with such class despite their tragic circumstances. Bon courage!

I just reviewed the Steven Smith testimony where he relates hearing MD say (shout) "You're not going to talk to me like that". Then the gun shots begin. He is a very credible witness. I hope someone on that jury was taking notes. As an independent witness, his testimony is so important.
