Agree 100% re shearing sheds, the large building about 1.8km west of the homestead and directly south of what looks like a private airstrip.
A telltale sign is the visibly compacted and flat earth of the holding yards which I’ve outlined in red. Decades of sheep hoofs getting funneled together...
This is the track that heads directly west from Oak Park Station, also linking to the Barrier Highway, and this one does not seem to pass that closely by any other homesteads before the highway. It also looks to have a few gates enroute.
Zooming in it looks pretty rough in parts, and more...
Look for a strong black line across the dirt road - possible locations of the gates. They could also be cattle grids without a gate, but sheep are pretty good at crossing grids so there is a good chance these lines are a grid/gate combo.
There is one quite close to the homestead, and another...
There’s a fair chance some shearers and roustabouts given it’s shearing time.
Gus was a little young to need one, 5 would be the start of school age. But large stations often have a governess living on the property to educate any children who live on the property (in conjunction with “school...
I know a dairy cow that ate a thick rubber safety work glove once! Left behind on the ground by a drilling contractor. And got very sick with internal blocking, but thankfully saved by the vet (and another long rubber glove, ironically). Contractor paid the vet bill. His name was on the glove...
Such evidence may still be very hard to find by search efforts if Gus made it, say 3-4km away from homestead, in an unknown direction, and then came into contact with pig/dog/snake. The main search focused on a 2.5km radius which is a huge area.
The family search started around 5.30 by which...
Thanks Dotta. This is a slightly different angle to previous narrative:
“The known facts are as follows: At 5.30pm, Gus’s mother, Jess, who lives on the secluded homestead with her parents, realised she couldn’t find him.”
Doesn’t change a lot though…
Hello fellow South Aussie, I was more thinking if Gus went into a dam, the edge would be muddy and pick up prints. So debunking / reducing the possibility that he somehow went into one of the dams under his own steam. Unless one has a jetty or similar.
I’m sure the dam levels are pretty low as...
Yes I believe it is largely up to parental judgement in Aus, but the parent is still legally responsible for the outcome. Info here:

As our kids got older and more responsible, my wife and I used to apply the rule - if...
My mind goes to all the dams and tanks on the property. It has to be the most likely non-sinister scenario right now for mine (IMO).
Do police divers always find what they are looking for? I imagine it’s a pretty difficult job. How often have police divers searched a water body only to have...
Just adding to above re drought - if there are wild animals around they would have become more and more desperate for food and brazen as the drought has worsened.
I think the animal theory is plausible but unlikely for various reasons - it’s possible Gus encountered a wild dog, pig, maybe dingo...
Some more insights about farming in this area and the impact of the drought. It’s been a tough few years in this part of the world.
Orroroo is about an hour west of Yunta, and the town is about 10 times the size...
This is a great question especially if you’ve never had the pleasure of visiting an Australian outback sheep or cattle station. They are mind blowing places, so isolated, vast and desolate.
But a property of 6000 hectares might hold 3000 to 6000 wool sheep, feeding on the natural outback...
For those pondering various abduction / accident / misadventure theories involving vehicles, I noticed what appears to be a private airstrip about 2km west of the homestead.
In my experience it is not uncommon for large sheep and cattle stations to have light aircraft on the property.
IMO
I just wanted to post a quick summary of key info IMO, as posted to date in this thread by various sleuthers from various media links:
1. Gus lived on the property with his grandparents.
2. Grandma last saw Gus at 5pm Saturday 27th September 2025 playing on a sand/dirt heap.
3. Grandma could...
This is interesting. Hopefully leads to a breakthrough…

Yes understood - it was reported that the homestead is 40km south west of Yunta town, although that’s just a milk run in the outback (eg the driveway alone is 25 km long, although I am not sure if that is part of the 40km or not).
Not sure where I’m going with this, just coincidental, but was...
Coincidental I’m sure, but I discovered a big charity outback car rally passed through Yunta that weekend… twice from the look of the route map.

Still thinking of little Gus. I hope he and his family get closure soon.
I assume his people and the locals are still out looking and eventually one day we will find out what happened, where he wandered away to.
Did he wander away some distance, then got bitten by a brown snake and succumbed...
