Australia Australia - Marion Barter, 51, missing after trip to UK, June 1997 #9

So Sally talked about this early on in the Podcast. It happened at her mums house. She left her purse in her car in the driveway. Marion realised and went out to the car, and purse was gone. I assume that before she had a chance to put a stop on her card, it was used at servo by a woman...

Further to the CCTV at the servo where Marion’s card was used, by a woman with an uncanny resemblance to Marion, hopefully a vehicle type or model was kept on record by police and might match up with what RB and DDH were driving at the time

The CCTV was from a service station where her credit card was used. It happened approx one year before she left for Europe.

I have a vague recollection that her car was parked in her driveway, and she left her purse in the car. Wouldn’t Marion have cancelled that Medicare card and gotten a new one issued? RB has probably gotten his hands on that later. DDH denied using any other names, but I’d say the police have...

After reading this again, i notice it says - even though the woman was CAUGHT, they were never able to relocate her. Do they mean she gave false name etc, or it’s worded badly and meant caught on CCTV.

I’m most interested to hear the evidence at the Inquest, from the Optometrist Marion supposedly visited in Grafton. She has a distinctive freckle in her right eye. This would surely have been recorded. At the very least examination result compared to previous Optometrist visits in her life...

I find it extraordinary that a young woman with a child would be travelling/driving theses distances ALONE..... Alice Springs, Adelaide, Margaret River, Broome, Darwin, Canberra. I can't imagine she had the greatest set of wheels either. She had to be with either a partner or travelling on...

Not wanting to get in a war about colours, but the one they found on eBay on my monitor is pale cream with a cream/beige lining, and the one from the suitcase is dusty pink with a beige lining, but looks a bit greenish. I think a pastel green lining would be quite unusual for those coats, but i...

They wouldn't be your average teenagers or children either. Their mental health would be affected. Probably always lived in fear, wouldn't trust outsiders. It might take a very long time for them to talk openly about their past life to carers or social workers even if they would like to tell...

I have tried to imagine being one of those children, mistreated and starving. They would be affected in every way imaginable from this experience. We treat our animals with more respect, as someone else has mentioned on here. 20 other children around you............. abused, filthy...

It would be very hard to think of your loved family member out there in a shallow grave on the body farm wouldn't it? The 81 year old man i knew who donated his body to science had PLENTY of money for his funeral. He asked that his family have a lovely party in his memory, and they did.

They would definitely have DNA for this HOH family, so surely this would be one of the first cross checks the police would do with Angel. Is it possible the police are searching for Trudy in relation to this case, but do not want it made public due to her possibly going further into hiding?

I feel the Chamberlains were misunderstood, especially Lindy. It was handled badly by the media.

Back in the 70's you just didn't wear black during the day; it just wasn't done. I remember being told in a class at a secretarial course in the late 70's that it was not appropriate to wear black during the day, it was only for the evening. I remember agreeing and thinking it was awful to...

I was aquainted with an elderly man who recently died of cancer who donated his body to science. He thought funerals were a waste of money and someone should make use of his body. I hope he didn't choose to part take in the body farm. I know its necessary for research, but i have the thought...

I totally understand what you mean about the colour of the tutu. I have two daughters, now adults, and the colours on the quilt made me question whether it was made for a girl, although grandmothers can be very practical about colour and showing dirt, and how often you have to wash things...

I think there is a possibility that the case had been on the highway underneath scrub or possibly further back for, maybe months before it was first seen. I did read on another forum some time ago - a woman stated her husband believed he had seen this suitcase approximately 60km north on the...

I agree 'private' sleepover that possibly hasn't worked out, doesn't want his wife, or adult children to find out now that he has changed his mind. Nobody to give him a lift out of town.... I wonder if that phone box in town works and if the police checked if any calls were made from it on the...
