What went thru my mind reading all that was it doesn't change the fact that he had a minor in his home! No arguments about whether cables on doors had a power source, or interviews about family dynamics, or anything else can change the fact he held a minor in his home!

It just seems to be muddying the waters by the defence. It doesn't seem to me to be that the defence believes him innocent, rather they are trying to minimise his guilt. (Does that make sense? Hard to put it into words). Guessing that if they can prove she said contradictory statements or...

I should note by "decently" I just meant thinking of his victim and sparing her living thru the horrors of reliving events thru a trial.

I'm guessing he figures at this point what does he have to lose by dragging this out? Maybe he figures he can escape justice on a technicality? If he suddenly confessed to everything and spared AH having to live thru a trial, would it change his sentencing? If he was a decent human being...

I can only echo others' thoughts here.....all the "details" make one ill to read. That young lady living through it just is beyond imagining. As others have said, just keep talking NK, keep digging that hole deeper.

Orgona, I too wondered if she ever read here and knew how much support she has, but as you said, probably best she doesn't. I sometimes find myself wondering how she is doing, how much she has healed, and hope it is exponentially more than I can even hope for. I have never met her. I'll...

I've been away from this thread for a bit, but often think of the victim here and hope she is healing. A long road still needs to be travelled by her though, a very painful one. I'd never heard of the threatening phone call NK made to JY....and as awful as it is, kept thinking "Just keep...

When I saw that date posted for the trial....my heart went out to the young lady in question. There is no quick remedy to putting it all in the past for her. Not that there was a quick fix here, but just knowing it will all be front and centre a year from now is painful to read. And who knows...

Wow the wheels of justice turn painfully slow! Just reading this shows how much still lies ahead.

I have wondered what LE could have done, or not done, which might have resolved this sooner. Perhaps once all the info is out there, ideas will come forth which will help in similar situations. Hopefully, something "good" will come of this. It does give me a great deal of comfort knowing a...

When I read the list of charges I must admit I was glad this took place in the USA and not here in Canada. Here, sentences for crimes run concurrently, not consecutively.

How utterly horrific to read....and I started to read, and had to stop. I had read enough. Enough to know that what had long been suspected, was there, in print. There are no words for things like this. I do hope that young lady is healing. These wounds will be opened again during a...

If I remember correctly the heavily censored released info the other day did identify NK as the man who detained her, but it did not state he abducted her. Maybe there are still others involved???

It all makes my head swim! The prosecutors did say other charges may be forthcoming......didn't they? So, in theory, the sketch of the man released originally could be the abductor and NK was the one to actually detain her? It could explain, in a very literal sense why the sketch doesn't...

Interesting discussion. The nuances are so important. I can see the concern about AH lawyer's statement not identifying NK specifically. In the recently released legal documents (links posted in this thread) it states that Abby was able to identify NK as the person who held her captive since...

The post mark could be interpreted in different ways. If you were the abductor, would you use it knowing people would zoom in their attentions on a geographical location while you went the other direction? Or, would you blatantly use it thinking LE was too smart to put much stock in a postmark...

The small bits of her captivity which we know are enough to make any of us cringe. The fact that she has lived to tell her story is amazing. If it took her a few days to feel safe and comfortable enough to open up, (modsnip)......I don't know what she is doing these days as she tries to return...

She may have been protecting her family.....though of course I'm sure NEK could have found them anyway, just from the publicity the disappearance created. Still, if true, what an amazingly sophisticated mind she has to do what she could to protect her family while she herself was in danger.

If she knew his name for that long, it makes her homecoming all the more wonderful as he must have known she knew and was a threat to tell the police. Just guessing, but I would think the pure fear she felt would have prevented her from using his name upon her return home. After a few days...
