All depends on the weight of the aircraft and distance they are flying….they would also check weather en-route as an alternate as may be required and need more fuel. One or 2 no show pax would equate to 180 kgs…..787’s might have been carrying 126 ton of fuel…..therefore the no shows wouldn’t...
Pre flight checks are done on every departure. Walk around the A/C and then there is also a check list in the Flight Deck. I used to do Load Control many years ago…..using extended runway distance means the a/c is heavy with fuel and pax (also hot weather)….just needs more length. You will...
Thanks GraceG…..ours was sign on to sign off. We had several U.S. Pilot’s whom I might say were bloody brilliant. Hard working and extremely competent. How do you make rational decisions on 4 hours sleep, thank goodness for the amendment.
Thanks Dotta I was wondering who they were. Here in Australia we have CASA….Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Aircraft/Airline would be shutdown immediately due non compliance.
Your spot on the point is when a passenger is non compliant, the last thing you need is having that pax on your flight for hours. Best to have them removed on the ground rather than divert. Sometimes professional folk don’t like being told what to do !!! ….. until there is an emergency, have...
There is no way that 1 X engine would be checked in 2023 and the other in 2025 impossible….like your front car tyres checked and the other later several years later. No such word as “clean histories”.
We used to suggest a ride in a Simulator (not cheap) perhaps around A$400 whereby a Pilot would take them through all stages of flight (even taking it to the extremes so they can see the capabilities of aircraft).
Over 40 years working with various airlines, Cathay, Emirates, Gulf and Malaysian Airlines….also a solo F/A for 20 of those years….I could right a book on the anomalies and nuances of passengers and where family members/loved ones would have no idea where they are.
Spoke to ex husband (friendly terms) ….retired Qantas LAME of 40 years….absolutely no connection….aint no “flipped breaker’ on a highly sophisticated aircraft.
