That's true. who knows what was in the van that had him so concerned that he (or someone he knew) torched it.
There are a lot of unanswered questions. I think there is definitely enough evidence to convict him, but there are unknowns. Hopefully the jury doesn't expect everything to be...
I don't remember him saying anything specific that his brother did with the van. Just that he was concerned that the van would somehow connect him with the crime at the house. Sorry that's not very helpful, but much of his story doesn't make sense.
DW testified that he took a black string backpack with him to DC to work on 5/13 (when he thought he was going to do a paint/drywall job with his brothers). He stated the backpack contained bottles of water. He mentioned the backpack again, when he said he retrieved it from the Porsche at...
They mentioned Garnett (might be spelled Garnette) twice - on 5/13, DW and Darrell went to Garnett Williams' house in Silver Spring, after Darrell told DW he didn't need him to work that day, and before Darrell dropped DW at Ed's house. The prosecutor mentioned DW having access to Darrell's...
They didn't introduce the backpack as evidence today. I got to court early this morning to get a seat, and I was there when a court employee wheeled in boxes of evidence. I tried to peek at the boxes and I noticed one was labeled black string backpack (or something like that) - I was hoping...
I agree this is a major flaw! The prosecutor asked questions like, "You were so upset with Darrell but you got in the car with him," "You saw the news story about the fire and you knew it was connected to Darrell and yet you went to Walmart with him" (paraphrasing)- DW didn't have a good answer...
Haha thanks! Now I have to spend some time doing my actual job. I'm hoping to be able to go again next week, or at least for closing arguments. I think the arguments will be good on both sides.
Notes Part 2:
DW admits to looking up info on wiping iPhones, says he still doesn't think they were stolen. Looked up how to factory reset iphone, get rid of cloud content. DW doesn't want van as he fears it will connect him to the fire/crime. Darrell gives him 6K for the van. DW said...
Here is a summary of my notes. This is just a rough draft summary of questions and testimony and of my impressions.
Bach asked DW how often he saw Phil at AIW - he said 1-2x per week between 2003-2005, only saw SS once or twice. Bach then asked if DW knew that SS was running the company for...
Someone asked earlier if DW parents were in attendance. On redirect the defense attorney asked him if all of his family in the US had been interviewed by law enforcement and he said yes. Then the attorney mentioned that family who wanted to be there to support him could not be, because they...
He was pulled over on 3/23 and admitted to identifying himself as Steffon, said it was because he had no ID to get his van back. Was kicked out of Steffon home 4/1
He’s certainly got a distinct look, but he’s pretty soft spoken. The judge keeps reminding him to speak up so everyone can hear. He seems small in stature to me, but the prosecutor asked/pointed out how much he was working out in May of 2015, and he admitted he wouldn’t have a problem...
