Traditionally, grand juries served as a shield between unjust prosecution by the state and the individual. Grand juries serve dual functions. The grand jury's primary role is to determine whether sufficient evidence exists to justify indicting an accused individual.1 To make such determinations...

A link to the charging document for the lewd molestation charges is here: http://download.gannett.edgesuite.net/wtlv/docs/030910_Harrell.pdf Warning---it is sickening to read.

First Coast linked to growth in child *advertiser censored* http://jacksonville.com/news/metro/crime/2010-03-07/story/first_coast_linked_to_growth_in_child_porn "These are two awful crimes, child *advertiser censored* and the murder of a child, and they may be associated in people's minds," said David Finkelhor, executive...

I thought the search didn't start until the afternoon. IIRC, the news was making a point of saying they pulled up to start the search around the time kids were walking home from school.

I guess maybe I'm looking at this from a different angle because I do live in the area. I'm not just thinking about what LE has done in other child murder cases, but how I've seen other major cases in the county handled by CCSO. A few weeks ago, around the same time as JH's arrest, there was a...

What I still couldn't figure out was if there was actual pipe there, as in a pipe that runs this path, under the roads and could be used as a shortcut, sight unseen. From what I could see from the road, it didn't look that way. It looked like there was concrete around the openings of the ditch...

Questions Linger In Harrell's Arrest http://www.news4jax.com/news/22708293/detail.html "With the arrest of Jarred Harrell, 24, on child *advertiser censored*, production and molestation charges, there are many questions about the man named as a person of interest in the killing of 7-year-old Orange...

The traffic tickets used to list the sister's address. His address is listed as the Callahan address on recent arrest/booking documents. I think when an address is updated, the updated address shows up for any tickets/arrests on the Clerk's website.

BBM. Made me think, did he have some property on him when he was arrested in MS, that was turned over when he was extradited? Maybe a flash drive on a keychain or neckchain? This would also make sense given the affadavit saying another Det. contacted the special victims detective to report...

My guess is material found when they searched the day of his arrest. On the affidavit, it said that .....your affiant was contacted by Sgt. W McKinney with CCSO and told child *advertiser censored* was found --------(blacked out) that belonged to the defandant Jarred Harrell---------(large portion...

If I understand correctly, the Cyber Crime Unit only processes the computer--proving what images and videos were on the computer, where they came from (homemade or websites), as well as finding the deleted files. After receiving the report on 12th, it would have still been up to LE to prove...

I think LE believes they have the murderer. I don't think they would be so tight lipped, then name him a POI if they didn't have something. Personally, I want to see what that something is before I decide if I believe he is the murderer.

This is the quote about the white dog: "Dawn Nuss, 39, whose 8-year-old daughter Christina used to walk home with Somer, said her daughter told her that Somer used to stop at the house and pet a white dog. No one would ever come out of the house." (BBM)...

What I find interesting is they went to his father for the DNA sample. It may be a stretch, but it says to me that six weeks ago, they knew enough about Harrell and had investigated him to the point that they would go to a family member he had almost no relationship with, as his dad said...

I don't know. I would think that at least some people allowed voluntary searches and/or DNA samples. If they didn't do anything, they had nothing to worry about. And I'm sure that some just refused on the principle of the matter, and LE had to weed them out. There probably are other...
