For some odd reason, JLY received a sympathetic nod from the CoA trio.
Ultimately, justice prevailed when the 7 Supreme Court justices ruled to keep JLY locked up for the remainder of his life.:jail:
As expected, JUSTICE PREVAILS

NORTH CAROLINA SUPREME COURT REJECTS THIRD TRIAL FOR JASON YOUNG
7 judges.....Only 4 needed to overturn CoA.
True to past history, look for Robin Hudson, Barbara Jackson and Cheri Beasley to side with the defense.
Historically, Martin, Ervin, Newby, Edmunds vote pro-prosecution. Based on questions and comments, this seems to hold true.
Looking good for a...
LOL...again
Thanks for the links that show the only Civil proceeding with testimony involved Judge Smith , NOT Stephens.
"the civil trial and criminal trial involved the same Judge"
LOL, anyone that followed the case knows the chain of events with the civil matters.
Civil trial? There was no trial as you claim. It was a default judgement signed by the chief judge Stephens. Judge Smith awarded the judgement award ----the only civil proceeding in open court.
Perhaps you should read up on the facts of that case.
The 22 month old baby girl was found in her room, secured in her crib.
The other 2 kids that met their untimely demise were 3 and 5.
CY had a toddler bed and was free to come and go from her room...especially if she heard her mom scream for...
Quite the opposite.
Unlike most, this was not a domestic homicide.
The 2 older children that could communicate and ID the killer were in fact killed.
Thankfully, he left the harmless 22 month old baby alone in the crib.
Goes to show a random killer would likely kill any witness....including...
State's response to JLY's motion for appropriate relief.....ineffective assistance of trial counsel.

Yes, I forgot Raven Abaroa was offered voluntary manslaughter with an Alford plea after a 11-1 hung jury in the first trial. Amazing that Durham County would settle for such a plea.
As for JLY, if the NC Supreme Court reverses the CoA (most likely outcome), his only option is to petition the...
Raven and Brad admitted they killed their wives and will live their lives as shunned, convicted violent felons.
Peterson loves the spotlight and is insisting on a second trial. I look forward to the owl defense theory :)
It appears (from SC decisions) it is a huge long-shot for JLY to get a...
DNA analysis has come a long way in the last 37 years.
Forensic evidence was finally tested and Mr. Sledge was exonerated .....great news!
"Nationwide, The Innocence Project said there have been 325 post-conviction DNA exonerations"
"Justice" nationwide.......not just North Carolina ;)
Looks like the NC Supreme Court is starting off 2015, again correcting the liberal, inept CoA judges!
Remember the sicko Joshua Stepp that sexually assaulted and murdered his girlfriend's 10 month old baby girl?
Well, true to form, the NC Court of Appeals overturned the conviction last year...
"medium custody" at Alexander Correctional just means he can go to the yard without shackles. That prison is NC's max of the max.

Why was there a hung jury in trial #1, you asked?
He took the stand and lied as the sociopath extraordinaire that he is...
Until the high court rules, what the lower court said is essentially a moot point.
The fact remains, he remains incarcerated in a max security prison and is treated as a violent felon.
If by some crazy, bizarre chance there is not a 4-3 decision for the state, JLY will then go back to the...
Last I saw, JLY is still in Alexander Correctional max prison , convicted of first degree murder with an active sentence.
Sorry, but until the SC rules, his sentence is not vacated...
So, here is some 'educated' speculation......
The NC Supreme Court will hear oral arguments mid to late summer, 2015.
And yes, it is a fact JLY remains in a super-max prison as convicted killer, Felony inmate # 1309245.:jail:
More speculation...... Based on recent SC decisions (link posted...
