If the car was stolen in another town (or even another state) just to use for the murder, perp might have returned it to the area it came from in order to retrieve their own vehicle.

Recovered stolen car full of blood?

Agreed. Also note they're looking for driver/passengers from the day of the murder or before the murder. They don't appear interested in anyone who has seen it since. It sounds to me as if they currently have the car, but that it was stolen some time before the murders. Speculation - if, as it...

I wonder how confident they are of the make and model? If they have any question at all, there's an autistic teen on FB that can identify virtually any car ever built, even from crappy photos. He's worked with police before.

The door was apparently open when police arrived, but did the surviving roommates open it, perhaps to allow the friends they had called entry? If the door was open prior to 9am, then they didn't open it. And I hate to bring up the dog again, but if he went out or was put out when the killer...

Or, the killer planned ahead, prepared, then intentionally got himself invited back to the house.

I don't think it would be that hard. Boot sheath, possibly.

IMO Probably an acquaintance, rather than a close friend. Very possibly a frat member. I don't think they would have brought a stranger home.

Any of the motives that have been discussed here. If (for example) the perp was a fellow frat member and also secretly had a thing for one of the girls (or secretly held a grudge against one), the 'excuse' to stay at the house could have been a pre-planned invention.

I'm not convinced that the killer didn't come home -with- E&X. Someone who claimed they needed a place to crash for the night. Maybe said they'd had an argument with their girlfriend, or had locked themself out, or perhaps got tossed out of the frat? If E&X invited the person to sleep on the...

I think it depends on what you're used to? I've lived in houses with walk out basements that WERE basements all my life. Seeing that house, it never would have occurred to me that there were bedrooms on that level. I'd expect furnace, water heater, laundry, maybe a rec room, but not bedrooms.

Is there any chance the perp might have tazed them before stabbing them?

That's not to say it's not indirectly related. If the perp was mid-crime and saw flashing lights outside, they might have panicked and fled. It's possible the alcohol offense saved the two downstairs roommates.

I don't know why everyone thinks DNA is the only way to prove innocence. We don't even know if police have thevperp's DNA from the crime scene. Police could easily have seen the guy on traffic cameras miles away, for example.

Good chance that the dog was used to being left alone while 'mom' was in class. Not a doodle, but my mother's dog disappears into the open crate in 'her' room whenever my mother leaves the house.

Interesting. Perhaps the locks were changed because it was a party house, and the girls didn't want people going into their rooms and taking their stuff? However, it raises the question of how the killer accessed the rooms. Did they have the code, or were the locks disabled/doors slightly...

Is there any definite info regarding what type of locks were on the bedroom doors? The one real estate photo I saw appeared to show a standard 'privacy' lock, but there's been some discussion of number locks?

On the other hand, if the perp finds two sleeping girls, with the first it will be easy to stab wherever you want - if the second girl wakes, it's going to be harder to hit that perfect mark.

If all four came home around the same time and were all eating in the kitchen, someone watching the house could have seen that. If something major had happened earlier that night, it would be very possible that they were discussing it.

Or, perp is after one person - but fears that that person may have shared some info with the others. So everyone needs to be silenced.
