Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

Also think about the social/political/societal changes that took place between 1965 and 1976. Huge changes!!!

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

I don't know what the laws were like back then, but to have gun hidden in a car that you were stopped driving while drunk, with a serial number filed off would definitely have raised LE eyebrows.

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

For sure. I will share that I also have a family member who has been, at various times over the past 40+ years, "off the radar". I think every family has someone who is like that in their family. They have petty grievances, get angry and then go dark for a while. I have an Uncle like this...

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

The Canada angle was always debateable and really was just a clue that needed to be ruled out. No one will probably ever know if Mr. Freund was the same man who stayed at the campground or not. But being from Canada could have also been a good cover story to keep folks out of your business ;)

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

I was glad to hear that the Sheriff's office waited to release this information. I can't imagine how the surviving family members felt when they got this news AND realized that crime scene and autopsy photos, podcasts, forums like this one and other info have been plastered all over the internet...

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

So cool that they were identified finally! FWIW, It was not uncommon for people to take off and leave spouses/children back then. The family courts were not very effective and it was not uncommon for men in particular to leave kids/wife and not pay a dime in child support. It happened to a few...

Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - #6

Hello All, I've been inactive here for some time, but thought you might all be interested to know that Verna Moore, former Sumter Coroner, has passed away. She was 91. http://sumterfunerals.com/tribute/details/405/Verna-Moore/obituary.html#tribute-start Obituary of Verna Moore...

Benjaman Kyle Statement from Owner of Websleuths.com

Amnesia is an actual medical diagnosis. I have a degree/background in the behavioral sciences and there are different types and specific criteria for diagnosing it. Since BK apparently spent some time in hospitals, it was my understanding that he was assigned an amnesia diagnosis by doctors...

Benjaman Kyle Statement from Owner of Websleuths.com

I haven't posted here in a while but a friend sent me a link to this thread and I feel compelled to write a post. I, too, have followed this case for a while now, and would be interested in seeing the proof that this man does not have amnesia. Internet slander/libel lawsuits are being...

Hi All, It seems like it's been forever since I've had time to work on Lyle's case... but I came across a missing Canadian man: Winston Sinclair Redhead Missing since Dec 26, 1995 21 years old Doe network case # 655DMMB http://www.macp.mb.ca/results.php?id=r1091 Has this individual been...

Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - #4

Mysterylover, I am not familliar with Bambi's case- but I can share with you what the former Coroner told me. She stated that when there is DNA to COMPARE, the samples get bumped to the front of the line for analysis. So if in Bambi's case there was a Jane Doe and family members who came...

justthinkin, I'm sorry you feel the way you do. You are entitled to your opinions. I happen to have a great deal of respect for Mrs. Moore, and the many years of service she gave to the citizens of Sumter. I am not sure if you are implying that she is corrupt in some way, but if that's the...

Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - #4

justthinkin, I speak to Mrs. Moore on a weekly basis, and she is the person who told me the bones were sent to the University of Texas lab. And yes, I do have ties to this case, my tie is to Mrs Moore and if she has asked me to retain a confidence, then I've respected her wishes and done so. I...

Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - #4

To answer the questions, Dr Schwarcz has already been contacted about the SC case, and the possibility of him doing work on it, so he's familiar. He's also seen the press in Canada about it. As I wrote before, he does not do the work for free- and I don't begrudge him that either, he is a...

^^ The officials in Sumter are aware that isotope testing is available and the former coroner expressed interest in it. Since there has been a change in the coroner's office recently, I cannot speculate on where the new people in charge stand on this issue though. Carrying out the tests also...

About the moles: the former coroner herself saw them and confirmed they were what is called 'hair moles'. But what stands out in my mind is that 'back in the day' it was not uncommon for more formal photographs to be retouched. This included covering moles and other blemishes. So there may...

I believe it's important to look at this case from a lot of different angles. It is possible the man Mr Batson met at the KOA was not the John Doe and that it was a coincidence. I have always preferred the French Canadian theory and the Native Canadian theory is a good one too, though. I am...

Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - #4

runr, great news on the press coverage! I spoke to the former Sumter Coroner Mrs Moore recently and she has not been contacted by any members of the press about upcoming stories. I certainly hope she will be included since although she is no longer coroner, she has kept this case alive for...

I guess I'm confused, the Sumter case is still an open case, isn't it?
