This really is an underrated theory, though it's hard to imagine what items he could be selling that would have that much value to rob and kill over. Unless it was a botched robbery...but multiple times in the same week? And CD didn't get spooked after committing the first one?

Nobody knows for sure, but I think the assumption is that his tattoos had something to do with the quick identification.

I think it's been concluded that he was likely selling the car to get rid of evidence, not to make money. And the guy is a clearly a huge sneaker fan. If you're into the hobby of collecting Air Jordans, buying and selling them just comes with it. I mean, just because a kid is wealthy or spoiled...
