Ebola outbreak - general thread #6

Right? I'm curious as to why the window of suspicion towards possible cases is growing.

Ebola outbreak - general thread #3

I have no idea. On www.wfaa.com they said "Sgt. Monnig says they were assured by health officials that no one inside the apartment was showing symptoms of Ebola and that the danger was remote." I don't know if I'm just dumb, but I'm just not understanding any reasoning behind this. We know so...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #3

Can someone help me out here? The deputy entered the apartment without protective gear, but wasn't watched by anyone because he didn't have direct contact with Duncan? What?? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the CDC has said it is transmitted through human waste such as sweat, vomit, etc... And the...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #3

I agree. Maybe we should all try and focus on the illness at hand instead like the MOD said to earlier...jmo!

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

Exactly! This is the point I was trying to make earlier. I just don't think ebola and the diseases you mentioned are comparable for this exact reason. I totally agree with your post!

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

Agreed. A lot just isn't adding up. If it was bad, I could understand why they would lie. I'm sure no one wants panic. I think these next few days will reveal a lot. I really wish I wouldn't have watched contagion last weekend

Thanks for all the answers regarding the patent guys!! I really appreciate it. Makes more sense now

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

Does anyone know why their is a patent on ebola from the CDC? I'm not a conspiracy theorist and didn't really believe this sort of thing was true until I saw it with my own eyes. Here's a link: http://www.google.com/patents/CA2741523A1?cl=en I'm ignorant as to why there is a patent on a disease...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

One of my concerns is the fact that the CDC has been known to be a little..."mischievous" to put it nicely. This along with all of the misinformation and "facts" are just troublesome. Like many of you pointed out, all I takes is one person to have it, sneeze into their hand or in the air, and...

Same here! I was pretty excited when I found it too! I just discovered the "Crimes in the News" recently as well. Man I love websleuths :heartbeat:

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

Hmm...I'm not sure talking about ebola on a forum is proof that people do or do not care. I think there's a lot of people that probably cared before it came to the US, but maybe didn't feel the need to discuss it. Then again, I'm sure there's a lot of people who could care less about ebola or...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

I have a question that maybe someone can help me out with. Why did the Texas hospital treat ebola so differently than Atlanta? The CDC publically commented on the Texas case so I would think they are involved ( I can't imagine them not involving themselves ). It just seems a little odd to me...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

My quote was the fact that ebola is spreading like wildfire....as in from person to person at an accelerated rate never seen before with the strain. You're right, the US isn't well acquainted with malaria. I don't really know where you're going with this. This conversation is about the...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

I feel like your post is true with just about everything. Most people don't care unless it involves them or those they know.

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

Well if we're talking globally, Malaria kills thousands and thousands if not millions a year. Am i downplaying malaria? Not at all. My point is that it's not comparable to ebola. Malaria is a completely different disease. Ebola is spread person to person. Malaria is not. Ebola has spread like...

Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

I've seen a lot of people talking about how ebola is no worse than TB, Maleria, etc... But the scary part is how little we know about it and how fast it's spreading in other countries. Yes malaria kills hundreds per year, but this disease has ravaged thousands in a span of a few months. That's a...

MO - Grief & protests follow shooting of teen Michael Brown #15

I didn't think of it that way. I agree with the family comment. I think if I had been a member of his family I would probably use the word murder as well due to the severity of the shooting and the emotions felt by those who knew him outside of the person that others chose to portray him as...

MO - Grief & protests follow shooting of teen Michael Brown #15

Well according to various reporting articles , the investigation into the department extends past the case at hand. It isn't one incident. There's a lot of allegations against the department that have to do with race. I'm not saying anything is set in stone proof of racism. I just know I've read...

MO - Grief & protests follow shooting of teen Michael Brown #15

Personally, I don't think it's ethical to use the word murder to describe this particular killing as a murder either. By definition, murder is unlawfully killing a person with premeditation. Until we know if MB was charging at OW or not, I don't think it's right to pronounce him as a murderer if...
