To me this is more indicative of a friend having fun with another friend. Without any malicious intent, young guys and girls playfully tease each other about everything and anything.
The family could be trying to take him to Canada. Canada won't extradite if the suspect will face the death penalty. If they cross into Canada, they're assured of sparing his life, even if it would be spent in prison.
IIRC, that was KK's brother and KK denied that he had been there. I seem to remember that he lives in Coeur d'Alene, ID, and KK said she has not physically seen him for an extended period of time.
