After 8 years I just felt that it had lost its challenge for me. I spent my last 4 years teaching in a school for kids that had been kicked out of every other school in the jurisdiction and I mastered that and I just wanted another challenge.
Teaching never leaves you though and I have taught...
I'm going to assume that they are already settled on M1 for DM and they are on to what Justice Code described as 'the closer one' with MS.
My experience is that when there is clear evidence that an accused has behaved badly, a judge or jury eventually finds them guilty even if the evidence is a...
I'm sorry Betty but I have to take exception to some o what you have said. I taught high school for 8 years, I was union rep for my school, my daughter is a teacher and I have lots friends who are teachers and retired teachers so I know somewhat of what I speak.
Poor Pay - currently in my...
Normally, once the jury begins their deliberations they are either locked in the jury room or their hotel rooms until they complete their deliberations.
Nobody gets to go home for week-ends.
I don't have a great personal record of predicting what might be going on inside a jury room based on jurors actions and expressions etc. but it makes sense to me.
One thing that I have noticed that is often true is if a jury is close on a Friday then they'll get it done on Friday so that the...
I've never seen it done that way.
I've always seen all the verdicts being announced at the same time even if the jury is unable to reach a verdict on one of the counts.
I believe Lisa was asked if she was sure that DM had said that and she replied yes and that it had really surprised her or something that effect. It's not a transcript, but she was certain.
Yes, normally everyone is told to be within 20 minutes of the courthouse so that if the jury comes back with a verdict or a question it can be dealt with quickly.
The Parole Board looks at whether or not he would pose an unmanageable risk to society if he was released back into the community.
You are correct ta remorse and acceptance of what they have done and treatment and programs completed are an important part of that assessment and it creates a real...
I think I read in one of the 'what the jury didn't hear' stories that DM had wanted a separate trial from MS because MS was going to run an 'antagonistic' defence against him like in the TB trial and Dungey said that he wasn't planning on it but he wasn't going to rule anything out.
I didn't...
I don't think DM has any concept about how serious a breach would have to be in order for a judge to declare a mistrial after a 7 week jury trial.
If there ha been such a breach, the judge and the Crown would have both leapt at it and contained it as son as the words were out of Dungey's mouth.
I don't see a problem with what Dungey said. DM spent most of the trial impugning his own character in to show that he couldn't care less about the women in his life in order to refute the love triangle motive.
What Dungey said was an accurate reflection of what occurred in the Courtroom.
