I'd like more info on this as well. I am guessing it is allowed because she was determining whether or not he was a threat to himself or others. Same with the crisis team. Still, questionable in my opinion. If I were to ever tell a family member of a patient's AIDS diagnosis without his...
Fenton's positive testifying yesterday was very much a result of her consulting with university malpractice lawyers and probably her own personal malpractice lawyers, IMO. I am sure they instructed her to answer each question affirmatively and not sheepishly with her tail between her legs when...
I know I've seen it for sure. I am assuming it was during the trial. It may have been during the defense's opening statements. Can't remember exactly. But I really did enjoy watching him fall on his butt.
Not completely sure in that case if the trial had already started. My guess is the defense would request time off until he is well enough to be there.
When I did some psych rotations, I sat in with one of the psychiatrists that was determining whether a forensic patient was competent to...
I'm pretty sure he has to be declared competent to stand trial for the trial to take place. Meaning he is able to be seated in the court room and have a basic understanding of how the court processes work to allow him to aid in his defense.
If he hadn't been declared competent to stand...
I agree that only a small percentage of those with similar symptoms go on to commit mass murders like this. The key factor for me is specifically that he communicated homicidal thoughts to the doctor. Strong family history of mental illness + homicidal thoughts + early 20 yo male =red flag to me...
If he planned a mental defense, he did a pretty crappy job of it.
On a side note, I have to say this. I feel so bad for his parents and what their life has turned into because of their son's evil actions, but after finding out that his psychiatrist personally reached out to his mother to ask...
What this woman has been through is unbelievable and the defense really seems like they are way out of line trying to rewrite history and pretend he never killed this girl. Good luck to them trying to make the murder of a child witnessed by her mother something that can be told without...
Sorry, was catching up on post from today. As far as I understand it, the defense doesn't want any records that show he was still continuing his usual activities of daily living, such as going to the gym 2-3 times a week, and not in the midst of a psychotic break.
I thinkt he defense is stalling and they've had plenty of time as well. However, I know they are not allowed to consider anything JH said in the Reid interview videos as a fact or as an accurate timeline. So the defense hasn't admitted that JH went to the gym then.
I thought he was using an account separate to the one visible to his parents, to hide these purchases from them. I would think whatever credit cards he had did not have a very high credit limit considering he was a grad student and not making much. Or maybe they had a daily purchase limit that...
"dsherlockb@gmail.com: Well what I feel like doing is evil so can't do that
me: what do you feel like doing?
dsherlockb@gmail.com: Video games are the next best thing through escapism
me: what is so evil that you want to do?
dsherlockb@gmail.com: Kill people of course"
I mean, could he have...
I must have missed the part about a sleeping juror..can someone fill me in? I cannot think of a more inappropriate time to be taking a nap than when you are on a jury in a case of this caliber.
