...or a homunculus (Latin for "little man") -- learned that one on "The Big Bang Theory."

They should have had one of these "Jaws of Life" devices. It can pry open stuck doors in a jiffy, once you've hooked it up to a hydraulic pump:

I think you may be right about that, SeriouslySearching. If you compare the pictures of the trunk lid in DeDee's Post #635 you will note that the earlier photo taken at the M&M on December 6th shows the trunk lid gapped open (assumed to be in the CS "as left" condition) but not bent. Compare...

I agree there is a difference in degrees (sorry, couldn't resist) between an oven and a furnace. I would not recommend baking an apple pie at 1500 deg-F, nor would I recommend heat treating a bar of steel at 450 deg-F. So there is definitely an element of temperature, but also an element of...

I found a photo of a trunk interior for a 2003 Kia Rio Sedan, which I think is only one year older than Jessica's? Anyway, it shows a solid partition between the trunk and cockpit with no hole through it, although it is covered with carpet material, so you can't really tell if it is a solid...

Speaking of ignition points, did you happen to notice the number of your post, wfgodot? Thanks for the info, though.

A couple of recent posts started me thinking. One mentioned Fahrenheit 451, the 1950's science fiction book by Ray Bradbury in which firemen of the future drove around on firetrucks, locating and burning any and all books, which had been totally banned by the government. The cryptic title refers...

LE has refused to comment on some things, observation, because it is still an "on-going investigation." And, of course, if anything has already been shared by the DA with the Panola County Grand Jury, those proceedings would be closed door, too. The content and identity of the 911 call are...

Anybody else think it would be a nice improvement to add a [Bottom] radio button to the top of the webpage, like the [Top] radio button at the bottom of the webpage? :groucho: "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know."

I withdraw my suggestion that a metal sample was removed from the front quarter panel. What I thought I saw in Classito's third photo, I now realize was just a void left behind by the missing GIGANTIC front bumper of this Kia, thanks to your photo, Steleheart. I remember "Terrible" Ted Turner...

gngr~snap, I think you meant to reference Classito's 1st and 2nd photos, not 2nd and 3rd. I don't believe anything is missing from the trunk lid. The edge, even in its deformed state, more or less follows the contour of the trunk opening. One more trick of the car manufacturers to make cars...

Then all the better reason to preserve "chain of custody" and limit access to that CS, while transporting "it" to the county impound lot, instead of stopping for a photo op at the M&M on the way there. I'm not accusing Ali of doing anything wrong, but he -could- have done any of a number of...

I could just as easily posit there is "zero proof" that she didn't use any drugs, at least at some point in her life. Youths have been known to experiment. But my task would be more difficult, because it is very hard to prove a negative. Regardless, yours is a straw man argument at best...

I'm with you, Dex. If RH was on "leave" that evening from one of his many stays in the Panola, Yalobusha, and Granada County jails, I would not have wanted to be little Jessica, out driving the streets of Courtland and Batesville after dark, "unescorted" because her bf was locked up. If ever...

There is at least one universal rule among all CS investigators, be it local, state, or federal: Thou Shalt Rope Off The Crime Scene. I think with TV and newspaper reporters all over the place, a second area surrounded with yellow tape would not have escaped everyone's attention. JMO
