Sadly, this case reminds me of another nurse's disappearance I followed, Zulma Pabon from Chesterfield, VA. She also had a small child. Her husband was convicted of dissolving her dead body in lye and disappearing her--she's never been found :( :(

Of course, she had been guilty of aggravated child abuse before.....sigh

Her death certificate listed her as still married. So not divorced. No mention of her husband in the podcast.

The podcast said an envelope was in her file with photos of suspects...there were photos of 27 men!

Oh, I wasn't correcting you. Just answering your question. Jumping off your post, she was married, and I looked at her obit, she had 4 children. Yet she was meeting men and working as a Go-Go dancer. I wonder if her husband was cleared? A jealous husband is always a good motive.

Mrs. Read one of the newspaper articles...Rogers was her maiden name.

Just wanted to add, Detective Adam Turner is the person who submitted the info for the Find a Grave memorial (I found this while researching another case). Someone had wondered who submitted the memorial in an earlier post. I hope one day Clara's whereabouts will be known so her family can know.

One interesting footnote on Rose (Mary Jane Croft Vangilder's sister)...the detective who found out what happened to Mary Jane is the same detective who has her sister, Rose, and one other lady from West Virginia, listed as missing persons and he submitted their info to the Find a Grave site...

So, I've looked on NAMUS and the West Virginia Missing Persons Database, including old and cold cases. I don't see Rose Brownsfield Croft Leeson Cherry on either of these. She is listed in the 1930 census living with her parents, age 14. By 1940, she's married to Harold LEESON and has children...

I just went down a rabbit hole looking for Rose. Wow, have you seen the genealogy/records on her Husband "James Cherry" and his wives? (I do a lot of genealogical research.) This man had six wives! And it looks like the wives and other women in the trees were all "married" multiple times...

I get so angry and upset when LE doesn't take a 12 YEAR OLD runaway seriously!!!! How is she supposed to take care of herself? Buy food? Live? Yet here it is, over a year has gone by, and nothing but crickets. What is the problem? And why did she repeatedly run away from home, yet was considered...

As far as the "haunted House" (sounds like a torture chamber to me) I have always felt that deep down, McKamey had to be a sadist to subject people to the s**t he does. Also have followed it for years.

I think by warrant they mean a protective/restraining order, or sometimes people say a "warrant" is taken out for a person's arrest, as in the "father" could've tried some BS on the mom, like saying she perpetrated the abuse or hurt the children in some way...this would be reported to police and...

Very upset and frustrated with this story. I hope the police have a good idea of what happened and are just trying to get evidence.
