We haven’t boated in years but when we used to, there were often stores at the marinas where you could get essentials, snack foods & gas. No fresh veggies or meat but lots of canned & packaged stuff. Enough to survive on.

In the article linked by OP it mentions a joint investigation because he was known to live in both places. Calcasieu and Beauregard are neighboring parishes with many shared roads and some shared towns.

Maybe she had toiletries, clean underwear and a nightgown in the bag? It’s really hard to tell.
