    Deceased/Not Found Canada - Alvin, 66, & Kathy Liknes, 53, Nathan O'Brien, 5, Calgary, 30 Jun 2014 - #22

How prolific could this accused killer be? The first thing I thought was the clothing and shoes could be trophies.

I'd be shocked if a man 5'7-5'8 had size 13 Wide feet. That's a shoe size a taller, husky man would wear.

I have also wondered how one small middle aged man could have accomplished what he did on his own. Yes he had the element of surprise and we know that even law enforcement people, on or off duty have slowed reaction times when surprised. There was a back alley and a park behind the house...

If I recall, in a police statement at the time it was determined that one of the victims was dead. It was discussed here, and the consensus was that based on what we knew and that it would have been Kathy. Does anyone have the skills to find that part of the conversation from 2014? (sorry I'm...

It's unlikely healthcare would pay for this kind of expensive weekly consult. Psychiatrists mainly consult these days, and may see a patient once to diagnose or prescribe, their hourly is astronomical. It could be the family paid for his care out of pocket.

Hi, everyone. I've had the last 2 days off and let myself get caught up in the opening and testimony so far. I don't think any of us had predicted how horrific the last hours could have been for the victims. I am not sure I can see this through. Although this steadfast group needs closure, I...

Is it okay to quote from another web site on the same topic? The character on UC called cd was asked if he knew Jessica and he answered that they shared common ground, but he didn't know her. He said they knew the same people...people that would make you pay twice for something you didn't do...

Have you seen the video of the Water Grill? A dressy black and white sleeveless dress would be out of place. Servers wear black tights or jeans and some kind of close fitting casual top, usually. Even in Boston Pizza, which I think would be a step up, dress code is casual. You can poo-poo...

So deugertni and I were both right. Sleeveless black and white still sounds like a dressy outfit to me, not something you would waitress in. I wondered if she changed into it after finishing her shift, maybe to go for a drink?

I'm thinking along the lines of her being dressed up. Wasn't she last seen wearing a white sleeveless dress and leather jacket? She would likely have been in heels too in the described outfit...in which case, she would not want to be walking too far. Does that outfit seem a little dressy to...

Good point. Sometimes staff will go home with keys if they are going to be the first one in the next morning. But she was due in court. Anyone work in that part of town, that could swing by and do a quick assessment? Or would that be wrong?

Skinnycat, you make a good point. When I drop off a female friend, I always, always make sure she is in before I drive away, day or night. But who is to say, with younger people, if they even think of it. I'm trying to imagine Jessica with no car to make getting around easier, being dropped...

IS it actually part of the mystery of Jessica's disappearance? I have a strong feeling LE knows who gave Jessica a ride that night, and have cleared that individual. It wouldn't be the first time CPS has kept their cards close to the vest, disclosing a bare minimum of details to the press and...

I take it as she was waiting inside the resto for her ride. She was likely watching for him/her/them, or they could have called her phone to say they were outside.

Yes, it's hard not to judge some of the choices people make, but we are lucky in Canada to have not excellent, but decent support for kids so they don't fall through the cracks for too long. I did work in social services, Sheshe, and have seen young single moms with various...

The world of single moms and gangster boys is kind of sad to me. Does anyone remember the short video clip of Jessica and another girl dancing in someone's kitchen in their girlishly cute/sexy way, and the group of young guys macho comments in the background? That summed it up for me. Sadly...

Such a good point. I think we all can be guilty of assuming others should be/are wired the same way we are. When I was younger, and thought I was some girl-genius, I had very little patience for people who I thought were being dumb...when really, we all operate on different levels of intellect...

Do you think that with social media and msm literally at our fingertips 24/7, we are more aware of every missing person, and every body found, and every crime than we were when we relied on the 'paper', the tv and radio news? I like to think that might be why it seems that crime/violence is...

I agree, OOTD, I was speculating about who she might have become involved with. And the fact that she might have tried to distance herself before getting her child back...Just speculation on my part, thinking about the presence of organized crime everywhere... and the attraction of having a...

Something beyond dreadful happened to that girl. I can't help thinking she got caught up with people who had more money than she did, lived a more affluent/glamorous life and when she tried to get away she 'knew too much' and was killed. I could see a young mom wanting to cut ties with any kind...
