I’ve been thinking about this. I can’t find mention of the type/OS phone she had. If she had an iPhone, husband could have triggered the “find my iPhone” alert and/or lost mode (able to put a message too with a phone number to call if found). If they had “family sharing”, very easy to do. Or...

Could he have gone out to “dispose” of evidence and when he didn’t return / his parents couldn’t find him, they realized something had happened.

Indeed. That being said, I feel like LE being so silent on such a “whoa” situation (IMO), is prompting well wishers to wild speculation. Not even a “nothing new” post! The mind makes up things to make “sense” of things that do not align with a stable sense of life/self.
